Love that you guys are talking openly about a process that isn't as open as it probably could be! I'm currently studying for a master's in genetic counseling--have you seen a GC during this process? If so, how has it gone? I love to hear about the good (and the bad!) when it comes to this journey.

We did see a genetic counselor (over the phone) during our sperm retrieval and egg donation process! It went well, though the first round of genetic counseling that told us if we were carriers for hereditary diseases didn't make a difference to us - but it was a small price to pay for peace-of-mind knowing we weren't passing on diseases inadvertently.

How do you overcome the legal issue of the husband who is not the biological father? I am rooting for you!

Really great question!! In short, there's something called a "pre-birth order" that we hire a lawyer for and process through the courts... this puts both fathers as legal parental guardians of the baby (before its born). And then there is also a second parent adoption that can be filed directly after birth. We'll go into more detail on this in a future episode!

You guys are awesome, and I enjoy your videos. I do have a concern about your potential parenthood. If you plan to continue all the travel that you do, it will be near impossible to be adequate parents. Just saying--been there, done that, and children take 99% of your time.
