This Henry guy seems genuine. I bet he turns out to be the most likeable character on the show. Of course, Hurly is the top guy and he would be the second.

I loved Nikki's reaction to the counter flipping to the hieroglyphs. I was reacting the same way on the original showing. I remember going online after every episode, to check out screenshots and breakdowns.

Sayid: How deep? How deep did you dig the grave? Henry: I don't...it, it was... Sayid: You would remember! You would remember how deep. You would remember every shovelful, every moment! You would remember what it felt like to place her body inside. You would remember if you buried the woman you loved. You would remember, if it were true! I Friggin love every exchange between Sayid, and Henry. This episode was a fantastic introduction to one of the most polarising characters in the show.. imo

Great episode! So many great moments but Sayid breaking down thinking of Shannon is the highlight. Sayid and Shannon - by so many fans they get brushed off as a desert island fling and that he was always more interested in Nadia from his flashbacks - and while it may be true that he loved Nadia first - it by no means lessens how much he also loved Shannon. This episode alone you can tell how much she meant to him, moreover how, with her no longer around to bring out the best in him, he quickly goes back to his old ways. Now, with her gone, not only is he pained that he's lost her, but he's pained that the only way he can be valuable to anyone is in doing the horrible deeds nobody else will. In many ways Shannon brought out the best in him both because: A) She was also no angel herself; they were both deeply flawed. B) Sayid successfully getting Shannon to gradually break down her abrasive behaviour which she had developed over the years as a self defence mechanism, getting her to gradually reveal her true, best self required all of his greatest skills of patience and social smarts but moreover it represented finally a case wherein those skills which had previously been abused for the least moral causes, finally were used in combination with the best of moral intentions - those simple intentions of both empathy and love.

Michael Emerson is an amazing actor. In fact, he's easily the best actor in the series. He was really great in Person of Interest.

I just realized that Jack and John are often used interchangeably. Two sides of one person? Faith/Reason.

When Siad say "My name is Siad Jerrah and Im a torturer" I always think of "My name is Inigo Montaya, you killed my father, prepare to die."

That moment at 17:15 is certainly one of the most terrifying scenes of the show. Those black and white numbers turning into red and black symbols... that was fear itself.

FINALLY, Henry arrives and the show changes gears! Really need two shows a week till end of Season 2!!

One of the most emotionally intense episodes in the series. Brilliant performances from everyone, but the standouts were Michael and Naveen. Sayid doesn’t get as many flashbacks as some characters, but when it’s his turn he really brings it. They all did a talk show (maybe Jimmy Kimmel?) after the end of Lost, and there’s a moment where Naveen gives Michael a little kiss on the head as a half-apology for his character’s actions in this episode 😂

I've been waiting sooo long for this one ; D awesome! PS: the hieroglyphics sequence mean either 'die' or 'underworld', the latter being 'official' translation, according to lostpedia. ; )

The problem with the torture scenes is that torture simply doesn't work in real life. There's no such thing as an expect torturer beyond someone who is trained to make a prisoner say the words they want them to.

Sayid made me roll a tear this episode.

A great episode and great reaction as usual. I'm re-watching the Lost box set mostly because you guys reminded me how great this show is so thanks for that! Also, (Spoilers maybe?) I watched the DVD features for this season and the creators confirmed the hieroglyphics shown on the countdown clock translate to "Underworld". SPOOOOOOKYYYY!!!

I always thought the hieroglyphs referred to the other Dharma stations. The two red ones are a bird and an arrow. The two stations the flight survivors occupied are The Swan and The Arrow. The black ones aren't quite as clear but they could be (in order) The Staff, The Tempest (windy storm=tornado?), and The Flame.

When I first saw this episode I felt like Henry was an Other because his name "Henry Gale" seemed fake. Dorothy Gale leaves Oz in a hot air balloon so Henry Gale in a balloon seemed like an alias. Plus he says his wife died from an illness, which is what the French woman said killed her crew and he knew they had already met and worked with the French woman, so he would know to lie based on something they already know about the island.

Besides Mr. Krabs, Clancy Brown (who was the US Operative in this episode) also played the head of the prison guards in the movie"Shawshank Redemption", and was also the voice of a beloved hard-boiled detective character in the PS4 game "Detroit: Become Human".

You know, as I'm rewatching this show, Russo is actually quite attractive, despite having a rabid appearance.

It would make MUCH more sense if the subs would say "this information means nothing to ME" ! And I´m pretty sure, that´s what the subs said for our German dub, which is the version, I´m used to (seriously, watch the German dub! At least for the first 3 seasons, it was fucking brilliant!). But I´d have to double check on that....
