+Shaggit While someone could definitely interpret the scene like that, I think it could still be seen as Desmond believing that the world hasn't ended, and that he pushed the button just in time, but that he also believes he could be stuck in the Hatch on his own for the rest of his life. When he hears John banging on the Hatch door, he has the relief of knowing that he won't be alone and that he might be able to share the burden of pushing the button with someone else. However, you could argue that Desmond wouldn't have considered killing himself if he believed the world hadn't ended and that he was still saving it by pushing the button. Also, when Desmond kept repeating: "It's all gone", I originally thought he was talking about his hopes and dreams of a happy life with Penny, but maybe he said that because he believed the outside world was gone. Either way, I don't believe that you need to feel dumb, and I still see it as one of my all time favourite scenes in a TV show.

Don't feel dumb! I've seen the show 4 times and there are connections that I'm just now getting! Look, I have complaints about the show but when it was well-written it was REALLY well-written.

Don't feel dumb I just realised that Eloise Hawking say to Desmond "you don't take the ring, because you have to go to the island etc..." because she have Faraday Journal from 1977 and she knew everything that was going to happen.

Rana has proven to be so smart in figuring out the twists and turns of this show before they are revealed to Nikki that just this once the show got the best of her. Also Michael's shooting of Anna and Libby almost got her. She was standing and yawning when it occurred to her that he was a turn coat. So sharp.

I think I was studying abroad in Cuba when season 4 started and I was losing my shit not being able to watch. Also that was between the release of the Cloverfield trailer and the film's release, which was also weighing on my mind. No TV no internet.

I remember those days, I mean months haha. Was good fun though having LOST theories discussions in the off-season, like how it is with Game ofThrones now.
