Two things: when the episode first aired I very clearly remember repeating “move the island???” over and over for days afterward like “they can’t be SERIOUS right?” Oh how naive I was. And when Rick said “how do I save the island?” before John I literally let out a moan of satisfaction and said GOOD JOB RICK.

This is the same Rick who early in season 1 said the island was a rubiks cube on top of a turtles back, suggesting the island can not only shift but also move.

Never thought about the smoke detector that's cool! Rick being like "how do I save the island" i was like "he is worthy..." 🤣. That Ben and Hurley scene is great!

Emilie deserved better, for sure. But there's somethin' interesting about how Claire and Danielle's storylines parallel and then thankfully diverge in the end 😉

@ the compass is the only correct answer as it’s the item John handed to Richard while they were time travelling (the item is a bootstrap paradox with no origin, handed from Richard to John in the future who then travels to the past and hands it to Richard) The test put to John as a child was to choose the item that already belonged to him, which Richard thought to be the compass and expected him to make that choice

Huh, is that.. a plothole, when Goodspeed says he's been dead for 12 years? I thought the Dharma initiative were killed off before Danielles crew got stranded here, which would have been 16 years ago, especially since we see Ben take Alex from her shortly after she arrived here.

@@qwertymanor No, they didn't. The Dharma purge happened in 1992, four years after Danielle had arrived on the island in 1988.

@@juanitajones6900 That doesn't make any sense though, as that would imply that Ben took Alex and was living with the Others whilst Dharma was still operating on the island, when we know he was still a part of Dharma and plotting to kill them all from the inside, and that Danielle went to the radio tower and changed the message and they just... didn't do anything about it for 4 years. So why would Dharma leave some random french womans message playing on their own tower for so long? Clearly they had to be purged earlier.

@@Hawk_of_Battle If this doesn't make sense to you, complain to Cuse and Lindelof. But I assure you . . . Danielle had arrived on the island and gave birth to Alex in 1988. The Dharma Purge happened in December 1992. I've known this since I first watched the series.

If the members of the DHARMA Initiative have only been dead for 12 years, that means they were still alive for about four years after Rousseau's team crashed on the island. It's strange how she never came into contact with them. The DHARMA Initiative had stations all over the island and apparently drove vans from place to place. It seems unlikely that Rousseau would have never run into them while they were out doing things. I suppose it's possible that if Rousseau ever heard them out in the jungle, she might have mistook them for the others and steered clear. The DHARMA Initiative, however, had to have known that she was somewhere on the island because she went to their radio tower and changed their numbers broadcast to her distress call, which played on a loop for 16 years by the time Oceanic 815 crashed on the island. That means the DHARMA Initiative allowed her broadcast to play for four years before they were all killed. That brings up a number of questions I didn't even know existed until now. Why didn't the DHARMA Initiative have anyone manning the radio tower at that time? Why didn't they restore their numbers broadcast? Why didn't they try to help Rousseau? If they knew about Rousseau and didn't bother to help, did they also know about the Beechcraft or Henry Gale's hot air balloon, or did those crashes happen after they were dead? The best I can do is speculate that they either weren't using the radio tower anymore so they never had any reason to listen to the broadcast and therefore weren't alerted to Rousseau's presence on the island, or they had some policy about not getting involved with outsiders and decided to leave Rousseau's distress call playing so she wouldn't know they were there.

It seems Christian doesn't want Widmore's people on the island either. If you look at it through the lens of Ben vs. Widmore, it seems Christian is on Ben's side of that conflict.

I'm not sure if Rick will pick up on it, but I must say I've watched Lost quite a few times, and never thought of the smoke detector in that way. So I'm kinda glad he did say something about it.
