Went to a reef break today and had a great time! some of the more heavier waves i've surfed. Fin lost and board chipped but got some good waves... Few nice waves and wipeouts. Enjoy the video! Beach - Cronulla, NSW IG - leedsurf

When paddling for a wave your board is too straight. once you choose the direction you want to surf position your board a bit more to the direction you are going. Great video though.

@@LeeSurfsalso when paddling keep your legs together for an easier paddle and pop up.

Fin loose at 6:38... Bummer! Was it a loose screw?

I think so, the legrope must've just ripped it out...

For a second I somehow thought you by some kind of misfortune found yourself at shipsterns on a less gnarly day, and my heart genuinely missed a beat. Make sure to wear a helmet when you surf any kind of reefbreak, though. I've been the idiot to get slammed by 13+ foot shorebreak and I absolutely regret not wearing a helmet for it. If I hadn't been in peak physical condition back then I'd probably have broken my neck. Heavy and unpredictable waves, shallow waters... recipe for desaster. Helmets save lives :) //awesome vid though! Keep it up!

I have been eyeing a helmet for a long time and will be getting one for reefs soon!

@@LeeSurfs that's great news! And I'm sure there'll come a day when you will be incredibly happy that you've been wearing a helmet ;)

I am looking also for some helemts and i was wondering if you had any recomendations. i do surf a lot and im some what decent its just that i dont want to get another hit on the neck because it could be the end.

@@TheRealWordMomentsTry on the Simba Sentinel 2 and Gath Gedi. Take a friend with you to wiggle the helmet around with some force to make sure it doesn't slip weirdly (as every head is different, I can't simply say "this one will fit perfectly") but as far as me and my friends concern, those two seem to protect pretty well. You gotta try them on in person though, as fit and comfort are important. They won't really save your neck from breaking all by themselves, except giving additional padding so the maximum impact force is less overall, but they'll definitely stop you from getting your head split open on a reef. I personally also train my neck muscles for additional safety, as those are essentially your body's own dampeners when it comes to hitting the head, and as I also love to do high diving (as an amateur), it really helps on head first entries there, not getting my head jolted to a side, so I recon it's probably going to have some positive effects in other situations as well. Stay safe, enjoy longer!
