A collection of photos depicting places we used to go for fun in Chicagoland which are things of the past. I received an email directing me to Craig's Lost Chicago which had photos of btgone Chicago treasures and these were under the fun section. As I viewed them I realized a soundtrack was needed. The song choice was obvious to me, "Old Days" by Chicago. I hope you enjoy the show which will definitely bring back some warm, nostalgic memories. I hope Craig also likes what I have done. I will send him this link. His web site is www.craigslostc...

Was waiting to see the Rainbo Ice/Roller Skating Rink on the 4800 block of N. Clark St. and the Uptown Theater on the 4800 block of N. Broadway.

Gosh, Bell's Apple Orchard. I was trying for a long time to remember what orchard we went to for a number of years for our apples. I can still picture the bushels of apples we use to pick when apples were affordable by the bushel. Was a great family fall outing on a Saturday........wonderful memories.

There is an apple orchard in Boone County near Belvidere called Edwards Apple Orchard. It’s still around.

Kiddieland, the Axle Roller Rink, Norridge Theater, Poplar Creek - and where I spent a good portion of my early adult life playing in bands - the Thirsty Whale. Such a shame those places are all gone. Perfect choice of music for our wonderful memories.

Are you familiar with a Russian or Ukrainian rock band that has done covers of Chicago songs? They sound even better than Chicago. Leonid and Friends. They have some music videos elsewhere on KZfaq. Check it out!

To remember so much stuff in this video is just a mind-blowing trip down memory lane, let's keep these places in our minds and visit what we once knew, this is why you should do a chart the changes tour you'd be surprised how much you can recall, this is why I am blessed with a photographic memory like my late father, to remember what Chicagoland memories and exactly how I remember Arlington Heights and what used to be where, it's just amazing

Dispensa's Castle of Toys! That was owned by my best friend's uncle! He lived on the property with his grandmother during the summer and helped out at the amusement park. I still remember the commercials for it.

Two that I didn't see here BTW: Ebenezer Floppen Slopper's Wonderful Water slides (abandoned waterpark is still there) Rt 83 Oakbrook Terrace Santa Fe Speedway in Willow Springs (Off of wolf Rd if I recall) Spent many weekends there with my dad watching stock car races; Once even saw a guy with a hang glider attached to a motorcycle jump some cars there. The good old days!

yeah remember he wiped out after landing well . he went to turn and his hang glider wing dug nto the dirt and flung him off the bike ... i also remember super joe einhorn wiping out VERY bad , that the jet car roast , the large couple who jumped a vw bug and the flaming wall of death failure . the worst was the figure 8 demo ater the 200 on spt 21st ... that was the last figure 8 demo as a driver lost his life in a head on .

It’s cool how you can still see the water slides during the winter when taking the off ramp from 83 to west on Roosevelt. Gets pretty covered up by the trees in the summer.

Oh Dear God! Many of the places where theaters, rollerskating rinks, and amusement parks closed down are now places where crimes are greater and morale is lower. We all need a lesson. You cannot make everything outside of work about pleasure. If you do, you will self-destruct to where you have no purpose.

At 1:30. No wonder Oak Brook Terrace went to hell. I went to school with kids from there and I get the feeling they and their families developed bad attitudes as they had no place to go after Dispensa’s shut down.

@@cmat57 spent many a night at Raceway in the mid 60's. We were too young but always got beer anyway. Noise, fumes, girls, beer, lots of fights, and oh yeah, Racing. My friend, Don Dado lived his dream and raced there while I was in the Army. I believe he was rookie of the year about 69 or 70. Rarely went back after the Army, had other interests.
