Take a journey with me as I explore this ghost town deep in the wilderness of North Carolina known as Lost Cove. Here is some of the history on the area: "Although Lost Cove is believed to have been founded around the time of the Civil War, the town did not begin to prosper until the logging industry made Lost Cove a viable stop on the railroad tracks. With its location in the mountains, Lost Cove was an ideal logging area that provided many trees from the surrounding Pisgah National Forest. Now the town was thriving with the help of logging industries and railroads, residents were able to build a school to educate their children. However, timber is a limited resource, and as the supply of wood began to diminish, the railroad stopped servicing the town in order to focus on other industries like coal. With a major part of the economy deteriorated, residents lobbied to build a road into Lost Cove. Legislators denied this request and the people living in the town slowly began to move away until the town was abandoned in 1957." Check out the links below to learn more. Please be respectful of the history that does remain, thank you! dc.etsu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.c... www.brendajwiley.com/lost_cove... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Co...

NC seems like a pretty fascinating place. A lot of history in that state. A lot of history in the country. The very reason I’m fascinated by our American neighbors. Would love to go back down there and just travel for a year or two. Visited a few times and loved it. Even though we are much the same it just feels different from Canada. Can’t even explain it.

I’ve traveled to almost all 50 states and North Carolina is definitely one of the most magical yet tragic states. I’ve lived here longer than any other state and that wasn’t my plan, I fell in love with it out here. So many hidden gems and a lot of intense history. The energy is thick many places.

What's crazy is I am potentially related to this family. Hester Price Tipton is very possibly one of my great aunts or cousins. Back story is my great grand father John was married to Delilah Price. John had a sister named Hester and they all grew up near to Lost Cove in Laurel Township NC and Johnston City Tennessee starting around the 1830s up until their deaths later on. Gonna have to search to see if I can find the connection to the Tipton family through our Price lineage.

I don't know if you went over to the other part of the cove or not. But, if you take the trial on past the cemetery you will come to another part of the cove. This part was divided by my Great Grandfather John D. between his two sons, Wiley (my grandfather and Uncle DOC (Dockter). My great grandfather owned 200acre and gave 100 acres to each one of them. Uncle Doc lost his land when the revenuers raided his place and caught his sons making whiskey. And he put the land up as bail for his sons. And they jumped bail and went to Ohio. M y grandfathers land ended up in the hands o f my Dads brother Uncle Ken's wife and she sold it to the Forest Service.

I have some pretty intense photos, while vacationing out in outer banks NC. Rest area abaritions. Wasn't frightened, was at peace with the faries, tree nymphs and forest. Was afraid to tell the hubby. But he agrees that it was of another realm. I've been haunted and tuned onto the p aranormal my whole life. I know I have a gift. I'd really like to tap into it and learn more.

There actually were no roads in Lost Cove. The path that the truck made it in on was just that, a path. It was wide enough to barely get that vehicle in which is why it has never left. There was no way to get it back out.
