my dog went missing about 7-8 months ago and this video was probably one of the hardest things to watch... 😭 my dog is also micro-chipped, I just pray that one day this will be me

A while ago I was a volunteer at a Humane Society shelter in Lethbridge, Alberta. One of the cats, named Giselle, used to sit very stoically in a window and look out at the world. She was lovely but rather aloof, and we knew she was a senior cat. One day a lady came in to look at the cats, and as she moved from cage to cage and talked to the cats, Giselle turned around and ran to the lady...it was her cat whom she had lost YEARS ago. She nearly passed out from shock and joy. Giselle (whose real name escapes me now) climbed all over the lady and purred and rubbed and couldn't let go of her. The lady cried and cried and we all cried and cried (and I am crying now as I write this). It was so heartbreakingly beautiful to witness this reunion, I have never forgotten it. Pets NEVER forget. Life is so much better with an animal to love. Needless to say, the lady took her dear Giselle back home

The reaction of this dog was so unique! She is like in guilt, saying "I'm so sorry that I left but I was so scared!"

As a good amateur trainer, I love this man. No screaming or silliness... he lets the dog smell and feel him close and comforting a scared animal. A dog is an animal and not a toy or person.

I have a dog that disappeared for 3 months. Then she came back ,pregnant. She wept and peed at the same time when she saw me. Big tears rolling down her cheeks. I was so happy and thankful, she looked nourished and smelled like she was bathed.

That was such a gentle reunion! Like she seemed so tired and uncertain. And when she understood what was happening it's like she was at peace and just wanted to stay there with her head on him ❤️

She was unsure at first being submissive and looking for reassurance but note her joy when she realises that she is actually leaving with him. A total change in demeanour. Glad she is home and happy. Beautiful dog!!!

What a gentle soul Dora is - she can't believe her eyes! I'm so happy for them all. I wish she could tell us what happened to her during those 7 months when she was lost...but all that matters no more. She's been found! I love happy endings!

I lost my dog last night because of the same exact reason. And I couldn't imagine losing her for 7 months. She does have a microchip so I'm hoping someone finds her and turns her into a shelter. 😞

That poor dog probably went through seven months of hell especially on the street. I totally understood her shyness.

That's amazing, she didn't get nervous or excited as other dogs do, she just went to him with the caution of one not wanting to be awaken from a dream. So intense, awesome!

All the comments saying she's scared, you are either dumb, a child or both. 7 months is a long time to dogs. Their devotion to their owners is unreal. Us, as humans, have our family and friends. The dog has their mummy and daddy. The way she reacted was pure relief, and joy that her daddy is back. If she was abused, dogs tend to yelp by just the touch. And I'm sure if he was a dog abuser, he wouldn't of even bothered coming to get her.

FYI, Dora was a fearful dig to begin with! her dad said they adopted her when she was semi-feral and were socializing her. She got scared by fireworks and jumped their fence. You can see she knows him with her putting her paw on him and giving kisses (which she didn't do with volunteers or staff when she was there). She is still doing great with her family!

I thought the dog looked uncomfortable at first, but she perked up at the end when she realized he was taking her with him, so I know she was happy.

For those going on about abuse, don't forget to study the owner too. That owner looked beyond happy, touched, and relieved to see his dog. When studying human and pet reunions, always study BOTH family members.(i.e human and pet)

Our dog HAD a microchip and she was still never returned. I think whoever found her, kept her. Glad to see it worked for Dora and her family.

I love this song and I love this video. I've seen it sooo many times and I never get sick of it. 7 months is a long time to be away from your family. I do believe in the end she was happy it just took her time to warm up and realize that she is still loved and wanted. Dogs i think for the most part remember things from the past and running away from the fireworks she had to get used to her owner being there to get her and still wanting her.

you will see that dog still remember his master no matter how long because dog remembered the smell of his master. I'm happy that they are united to his master and the eyes of dog is very excited to back home and felt sorry for his master for running away of his master. remembered dog afraid of the sound of firecrackers and even they a sound of gun they keep hiding or running because they think that their life is in danger

Great video, though you should consider removing the music. It's like trying to appreciate an emotional moment and having someone scream at you "BE EMOTIONAL!" It detracts from the video rather than adds to it.

If you don't have a tear in your eye after watching this clip you really don't have a heart. How beautiful it was to see Dora gently petting her paw against her owner. Please, if you know there are going to be fireworks nearby, always bring your dog inside as they can be very frightening for them. In my neighbourhood they will advise all homes via leaflets when fireworks are scheduled to prevent this very situation. Just remember, dogs aren't aware of what fireworks are & to them can be very distressing. Thank goodness this situation had a great outcome but after seven long months. Yet another reason to microchip your dog.

This is what give me more reasons to be on the Internet and more faith in this world.
