Shawn Kemp has several in-game dunks that top all of these. And even his McDonald's All-star dunk, where he was only 17-years old, taking the ball the length of the floor, and tomahawking it over Christian Laettner, even had all of the announcers just going bonkers over what they just saw.

It didn't matter.... cuz he was The Docta! People just wanted to see him fly again even if he couldn't do it quit like he did it before. The connection people /fans had with Dr.J is something that people today don't understand. People liked him as a Human Being... the way he carried himself. This is something Jordan never had with NBA fans... People liked what Jordan could do but not necessarily WHO he was.... the media sold you an image of Jordan as the ultimate competitor and tried to steer you away from certain things.

You're wrong, Magic. After watching the 2016 showdown between Lavine & Gordon, the 1988 duel looked ordinary. So yeah, the 2016 dunk off was the greatest dunk contest ever.
@movieking49398 ай бұрын
The 88 contest was only better if you are talking star power,the two biggest names in dunking going head to head.But for just dunking the 2016 contest is the best I have seen,simply amazing.I think the Aaron Gordon dunk over the mascot and under both legs might be the greatest contest dunk I have ever seen.2020 might be a close second.
@andretarrobal19648 ай бұрын
@@movieking4939 eh you haven't seen none. I've seen people dunk like Aaron Gordon as long as you got hops. What we're missing right now is the power and flair of Vince Carter sure there were people who can imitate it but not picture perfect like Vince Carter did. It's like watching a ballet rising to the heavens with grace and slam that ball with authority

In Chicago, they had every right to lowball Nique--because he did the same few dunks(even in the same contest). 1 or 2 handed windmill or 360! Being repetitive is bad in almost any artist competition. For that not to be the case, you had to have a really hard dunk to pull off(not a dunk that people may have been doing in HS). Jordan did different dunks often; the only one that he repeats is the FT line dunk(which is his best dunk).

Barkley is hilarious with his NBA history. Dwight Howard is not the most athletic 7-footer in NBA history. Charles Barkley forgot about Wilt Chamberlain (48-inch vertical leap) at 7'2" without sneakers.
@YehShano7 ай бұрын
No he probably just has a brain and realises a 48” vertical or 50” that Wilt claimed has Wilts shoulders roughly rim height…there’d be footage if that was remotely true…his vertical was more like 35” because the best footage is of his head rim height..35” is a great vertical still but it definitely wasn’t 48”
@barryallen10357 ай бұрын
@@YehShano It wasn't 35-inches and there is footage. Footage of him blocking shots with his head above the rim and his hand above the top of the glass backboard. I watch Wilt block Kareem's Skyhook at least 3 times in the same defensive sequence. Kareem got the ball back off the deflection at least 3 times and failed to get the ball over Wilt. You can find this footage on KZfaq easily. Wilt was an Olympic level athlete without basketball. He was a Track & Field athlete. He competed in the high jump and the long jump, and obviously could run fast AF.

@@barryallen1035 the only footage you’ve seen is from a camera angle that looks like he’s higher, I’ve seen every single video of him and there’s nothing from a true angle showing that height…other players blocked Kareems skyhook to lol I don’t know why this is even impressive as he doesn’t even toss it high when he shoots it…none of the blocked skyhooks are impressive at all
@barryallen10357 ай бұрын
@@YehShano You're trolling, dude. None of old NBA games are shot from an angle below the rim (aka from the floor) Games were shot from the stands sometimes courtside. Kareem is 7'2 and it's a hookshot it has a high arch even when you don't jump, and it's Kareem's version is called a "Skyhook" one of the most unstoppable moves in NBA history. Called a Skyhook for a reason.
