Built in 1959, this 1931 Dodge coupe belonged to a 16 year old and was inspired by the Beach Boys album cover, or perhaps the other way around. The story is about the battle and the perseverance to find it... and the happy ending. Enjoy!

That first seller was a real POS. Frustrating dealing with people like that. Glad you eventually got it back.

Love the Rambler taillights. Wish I had kept the taillights off of the 59 wagon I gave away years ago. Beautiful machine, even better father/son car story.

What an AMAZING car with an even more AMAZING story of building it, then losing it, tracking it down finding it and then the INCREDIBLE years long and frustration filled ODYSSEY to finally .get it back! But the greed and audacity exhibited by most if not all of the previous owner-resellers was ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL AND DISGUSTING! Thumbs up on the video!👍👍👍

So cool that you didn’t do it for money or admiration, you did it because of your passion for that particular car. That is the soul of hot rodding… 😎

I’d love to find my 69 chevelle. I kept track of it for about 14 years then it got sold and I’ve never seen it again. It was last in Davenport Iowa. Red 69 307 powerglide car with a 396 in it and a black home made cowl hood. It’s a car I’ll never forget and always want back

What a GREAT story! And there's a message in it: If you have a dream (like finding your Dad's hot rod), keep working towards it and one day your dream will come true! Truly heart warming. Thanks so much for sharing.

It's good that you got your dad's car back to him, he looked very happy, I would've done the same thing for my dad. Now he can enjoy going to car shows together driving his old hotrod and surely you'll end up with his hotrod as much as your dad knows what you went threw to get it back for him

Very nice story, great to hear a first Hot Rod retuning home. I built my first hot rod near the same time back in 1961 at 16/17 years old and like your dad said, back then then you had to make most of your own parts and modifications to make things work. I was fortunate that 3 auto wrecking yards were within a 2 mile radius from where I lived and I was constantly looking for parts I could use in those in them. Also back then all your car buddies helped each other with their cars. It was a great time back then... I wish I could find my first Rod. A 1937 Ford Delivery Sedan I found in a wrecking yard for $65 that I actually drove home.

The cars always have a story. Isn't it amazing how they're always about family and memories? But, they weren't built for that. Women support your man. Man don't treat her wrong.

This is the foundation of hot rodding. Kids put bits and pieces together of whatever they had available. These $250K show pieces that you cant drive , just look at, not for me. Can drive this anywhere and not get sick over a stone chip. In fact stone chips are a badge of honor. Great story.
