I didn't occur to me until just now. There may still be French speaking ladies in Viet Nam. I lived in St Paul in the 80s. There were all of these French Bakeries, so I took my brother out one Saturday. We walk in and the place was filled with cigarette smoke - all these old Vietnamese were hanging out drinking coffee and smoking, at least two dozen of them. I shouldn't have been shocked. I loved it!

Excellent interview…it’s rare to hear insights from a man like this and I found his commentary regarding Filipina women to be beyond fascinating. I would love to hear his insights about Vietnamese women and a compare & contrast between the two cultures (insofar as women are concerned …their perspectives, their desires, etc)…I am considering both countries for retirement and relationship and would really appreciate that type of insight (Vietnamese vs. Filipina). Hi Chad, I love this guy and his insights! A true Canadian. IMO, here’s a real person who has had lots of time to contemplate and think about life. Surely he has had great periods of solitude in his life. Something we all can benefit from. He’s had more than his share of hard times and this has allowed much time for personal growth. He says it like it is which is wonderfully freeing (something I struggle to get my students in Japan to do). I want to meet real people like him in the Philippines.

As we say in Canada: definitely one of the best 1 on 1 interviews I have ever seen on You Tube, or anywhere else for that matter... The Priceless thing that Philippines brings to the table that surpasses anything I have witnessed anywhere else I have been, is both their Core Values and True Passion for what is right, but to be honest, what was for me even more impressive is their solid Family Values which seems to be the basis for their undeniable resilience in the face of adversity... Un gros Merci to Stephane for sharing his very seasoned, well travelled and mature point of view on subjects that far to often are swept under the rug as taboo. Hats off to both of you for a great interview and a big thanks to Chad for sharing this special moment for all to learn from. Amping po

To the gentleman you have just interviewed Chad, I personally do believe that there's someone for every one. Maybe that someone has not crossed his path yet because he is not yet ready, because pure relationship should be coming from inside (heart ). Maybe it would be advisable for him to pray to God (if he is a believer), and for the meantime, he just enjoy life, doing what he is passionate doing. He needs to have a woman who , more or less, has the same passion, characteristics (traits) as him, to complement himself. I think you need a relationship that is based on love, not on attraction. Good luck Sir, LOVE should not hurried.

What instrument does he play? And, are there other jazz/funk/blues musicians there? Are there decent nightclubs, jam sessions etc, to play at. I'm a jazz/funk/blues guitar and vocalist. May want to move there some day, after i fully retire. I'm already 66. The states, suck......

I'm haven't got into any networking with musicians or looking for clubs. I do full time producing and had my cup of tea of clubs... I'm slowing down on music as a job though ...sooner or ́later ill get into that. I wanted to go to a jazz club here in Cebu. The only one ive found is closed ... haven't investigated more

I love the people here and so much things surpassing what annoys me that i may end up having a nice home near the sea here and an other in vietnam ... who knows ? Sorry, I'm a uni graduate, English is my first language and I'm totally stumped! I have no idea what he's on about. From my experience with pinays, he's got zip of having a meaningful relationship with a Filipina, but hey, good luck. Just adopt the KISS principle. Life is not a never-ending session with a shrink, which is what this interview sounds like.

@ShikokuFoodForest What gives you the right to give me advice? My point about being a graduate was to state that my command of English is higher than illiterates (like you?). With respect to Filipino women, English is NOT their first language. In my opinion, the guest on this video had not demonstrated an understanding of this.

Funny story. I landed in Cebu and on the drive to the hotel I thought I'd made a mistake in coming......the sights didn't thrill me at all. And I was asking myself if I could really live there. Then later when my LDR girl got out of the taxi in front of my hotel......She was so beautiful it took my breath away. Just so beautiful beyond belief, and suddently my opinion of Cebu totally changed. Of course she turned out to be a horror show.

@ChadFosterExplores agree with that karaoke is huge there. I just mean that province men are hard they always remind me of the rough southern men in the US. They're not fragile and gentle men for the most part! Many of them grew up farming, building, and living in structures without running water and with zero medical care. The majority of Filipinos have never even once seen a dentist. Those men are hard men. My dad is one of them he's hard as a rock.
