The beloved TV series Lost in Space (1965-68) was never given a proper conclusion. That eventually came, but in another form altogether.

Man, I remember the music for the episode featuring Michael J. Pollard, and I have never ever been able to find it. There is a last flute lick that has haunted my dreams for 60 years (Saw it once upon the initial air, today I am 71 OY)

Best retrospective on LIS I've seen! Great to have the comics and LISFAN mentioned too! Mumy's comics are brilliant and the perfect close to their story. The Netflix series was very good, but it's very much its own thing. The original will always remain this special treasure from a bygone era, and it was my first introduction to space opera before Star Wars.

Thank you! Yes, I also saw it before Star Wars and it kind of defined the sense of wonder I wanted from sf and fantasy afterwards.

Great retrospective! It's definitely my favorite show. Have the graphic novel. Comics and an autographed Star Trek he wrote about the Enterprise finding them...well sort of them. This was very enjoyable and nicely done. Great Job!

I recall an old Starlog interview in which Mumy referenced his script for the proposed CBS film. He mentioned that in it, both Judy and Penny were being serviced by Major West. It makes perfect sense, but I can only imagine the amount of frowning done by the parents.

Well done! Loved the original as a kid, and the kid in me still loves it. Also, like you, I found the Netflix reboot wholly unappealing. Never got past the first episode.

cool - when i was little and watched LIS every wednesday night on CBS, the original airings & very first rerun during summer months - i, for whatever reason, came to believe i was LIS biggest fan and expert (i was very aware that the top 5 BATMAN & top 15 THE VIRGINIAN competition was killing LOST IN SPACE, yet somehow it managed to squeeze itself into the top 40 each season) but i'm always thrilled to find others who were "bigger" fans than me and have been able to make toys, lunch boxes, comics, tv/cable specials, major motion pictures, new tv pilots and cable series revivals, all of which i would never have been able to be involved with, but reap the rewards of reading/watching - i guess there must be different levels of "fandom", but don't tell that to the impressionable little "me" back in 1965/1968 - thanks for posting! :)

Guy Williams's death was especially hurtful for me. I came home from class that day and my mother said that his obituary was in the newspaper. There it was with a studio picture fromm his days as Zorro. Jonathan Harris's death occurred during my time in the Navy. that was especially emotional to me as much as any relative's passing. I also remember Irwin Allen's passing as well in 1991. However, im glad that the tv series had returned to the airwaves on the USA cable channel and later the Sci fi channel and also there as a questionable comic book series by Innovation comics in which I didnt care for the sexualized drawings of the Robinsons showing lots of cleavage and large breasts on the women characters which I didnt care for.

Exactly what Wil said is True Billy Mumy scripts that Star 🌟 Trek rescues The Robinson family and take them Back to Earth 🌎 and Gene Roddenberry was willing to co work with Irwin Allen

Yeah, there's not much to say honestly, and it's basically unfinished, so it wouldn't be fair really to judge it one way or the other.

IRWIN ALLEN was a POS. It was he who scuttled the show and any chance of its return. He will not be missed by me or many of the shows fans.

The 3 season reboot was a poor and unwanted show. Too much WOKE character changes; race swaps and gender swaps. Nothing against Parker Posey or Taylor Russel, but they were simply too wrong for the roles. And then there's the John Robinson grunt with his Scientist wife Maureen. Definitely did not like any of these swaps. It was a surprise that it lasted as long as it did because it was so poorly executed.
