I could play this tune forever - it is so fun. Normally done in AEAC#, but here I play it out of AEAE cross-tuning. Busy day on our little gravel road, so you might hear some rumbling outside.

Question: Are you crosstuning with synthetic strings?

I am! Synthetic core wrapped strings. I used to use Dominants for many years, but have recently switched to Evah Pirazzi

@@RhysJonesMusic Evah Greens or Gold? Does cross tuning with them notably shorten their life span? It seems that tuning the lower strings up higher, stretching them out, would cause them to fizzle. Just curious. I've always used steel strings for alternate tunings.

Gold. I’ve found that synthetic core strings are always more fragile than steel, and have much shorter lifespans, but I love the sound so much that I’ll make almost any allowance. I also don’t use fine tuners so synthetic strings are much easier to tune than steel. But specifically, cross-tuning is a little harder to do with them because they take a few tunes to settle into a new tuning without stretching out. As far as it wearing them out faster, probably? I play many hours a day, so my strings don’t last very long regardless. The A string always unwinds with every synthetic string I’ve ever tried - I have to change sets because of the A string failing rather than anything else.

Same here. The A string is the first to go. It always seems to unwind. Therefore, I purchase extra A strings whenever I stock up.
