LOST/LOVED Director's Statement
Lost/Loved is a meditation on sex, memory, and romantic love. It came out of an idea I'd had some time ago, and a love for the work of people like Paolo Roversi, Chris Marker, Bernardo Bertolucci and Stan Brakhage. But it would only be realized with the beauty and talent of up-and-coming actress Brea Grant, and the stylish setting at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club, Palm Springs. With Brea's vulnerability and her sheer sexiness, in collusion with the fashions, setting, sound, and visual multi-media experimentation, I tried to create a visceral experience of passion that, I hope, challenges the viewer's notions of romantic love while communicating the emotional landscape behind it. I couldn't have asked for better partners than Ace Hotels and Zink Magazine, two American institutions on the cutting edge of style and culture.
