I think it's a safer option to use the dinghy with the engine running in reverse to pull the boat out, rather than attempting to sail out of there and using the anchor momentum. It looks really tight and narrow.

Dutch expression: 'Those who consider themselves the best sailors are the ones ashore', but I second the idea of the dinghy option. 5hrs since Nick posted this. I'm very anxious to see what he came up with!

Yes this is what I thought as well, dinghy and motor to help.

Looks like there is 3 viable options here: use dinghy with motor, use anchor momentum and sail away under main, or call pan pan or nearby boat for tow out of that bay.

Oh man. If you have the wind just the tiniest bit from the wrong direction in there, you're in the rocks! Would've loved to see how you sailed outta there!

just goes to show that something can go wrong at any time even on the flashest of yachts. so it pays to know what to do to troubleshoot and manage these types of situations!

Hope you get out safely, I am always worried about having electrical equipment and salt water, especially for critical systems like remote throttle controls. Well greased cables tend to be more reliable.

Ah mate. Good luck solving the issue! There should be manual override functions on all of those as far as I know.. While annoying to operate, you should be safe at least until the point where you can set sail safely.

Anchor is an important safety tool! Its probably good training to learn how to dump it quickly - im sure most people have never done it - video please! :)

I think at the Hanse 47 there where additional controls under the chart table in case the controller on deck isn't working. But they also might control electric actuators. Anyway all these electronics und touchscreens are critical points of failure and for the critical components like motor one must have a chance to switch gear und power manually.

What happened in the end???

Tow with the dinghy? Or move the anchor with the dinghy?
@zombyz12 ай бұрын
You have a dinghy with motor, ask somebody to pull or you can tie a the boat to trees.
