"I know what is it to lose someone you care about" In this one, really wished some sort of confirmation if Shannon was dead or not, even tho I have this really bad feeling about it. Am really pissed...

One thing Lost does so well: make us care for characters we thought we didn't care for.

The sad thing about Shannon's story is that the reason Boone (and by extension, the audience) is so contemptuous of her from the beginning is that she uses men to get them to do things for her. But we see here that she learned how to do that out of necessity. She was left on her own (???) at 18 years old when her father suddenly died. She couldn't accept the internship she wanted, so it's implied she accepted the job offer to be au pair for the dad of one of her ballet students, the guy she'd previously laughed at as "creepy." She figured out how to "take care of herself," which Boone mocks her for when she manipulates Charlie into catching a fish for her, but she's only about 20 years old, and we know she's been off in different countries hooked up with various older men... That doesn't sound like a dream life to me.

For the last 5 or so days, I've been binging these Lost reactions while playing Metroid Dread. It's become almost something of a routine now, to the point there's a certain comfort in continuing to do it. So far I've been through the whole playlist like 3 times. Keep up the great work!

What happened before The Island is not irrelevant. It is what formed the characters that we see on The Island and tries to explain why they act as they do and the bad decisions they keep making. Past is prologue.

What instantly came in my mind in that episode is that Sayid can see Walt as soon as he says that he believes it.

Poor Rob. You call Jack to help Shannon. But she is there because of Jack. She was on the plane because she was in Sidney. She was in Sidney because she couldn’t go to a dance school. She coudn’t do that because her stepmother didn’t want to give her money. The stepmother had the money because Shannon’s father was dead. He was dead because Jack chose to save the woman who will be his wife. So Jack doesn’t seem good at saving Shannon’s family (father, Boone, her ?). 🤣

Rob's face at the end 🤯🤯 gives me chills every time I watch this reaction.

I was so pissed off when they did this. I really started to love her and see her potential. I was looking forward to seeing her growth and they did this. It was just so tragic because she had such a tragic life. Bummer.

Boone's mum is one of the worst. The moment she understood she was a widow, Shannon stopped being her daughter. To think like that while losing a husband says a lot about her relationship with him.

I like this backstory it gives us a new perspective on why Shannon was "scamming" Boone for money.

Charlie can be so judgemental and nagging, but he does it such a funny way. 😂 Even when he's 100% being an ass he's so loveable.

Me first seeing this: Ugh Shannon backstory 😒.. Awww Shannon I get it now 😍.. Ahhhh!!! Shannon!!! 😱

One thing to remember: Cindy had just disappeared. It could have been that she had gotten turned around and lost sight of the group. It could have just as easily been Cindy running out of the jungle to rejoin the group. Why would any responsible person shoot first without determining first if the person coming out of the jungle is Cindy, someone else, or an actual threat? Keep in mind that is has already been established that the Others can move silently through the jungle.

Fans of lost were always so mean to Shannon (even now, she gets a lot of nasty comments on the reddit and in KZfaq comments) but I always found her to be a really tragic character who deserved a lot more.

you know ana lucia annoys me, and because of that shannon might annoy me. but she doesn’t! i love shannon’s character growth and she’s honestly quite funny. when you’re done with the show, maggie grace is in a few lost related things and she’s very funny, i honestly love this episode too. :D

The writers said after this episode that they regretted killing off shannon after they saw how well her acting chops were in this episode.

I always think of Cinderella when I watch this episode because of Shannon's evil stepmother. But of course there's no good fairytale ending poor Shannon in this episode.

Shannon Rutherford is a weird name, too. Shannon I know to be Irish and a long river (ty Irish folk music, Clannad, Enya and my poor, short Irish studies) meaning sth like river of wisdom in the mythology. Ernest Rutherford, important figure in physics, was from New Zealand. Kind of sad on the part of the writing team that they needed 'a way to bring the two plane survivor parties together in the most awkward way possible' so Boone's sister's time had come. Really nasty. Other than that I just realized visiting the interweb forums that her person was supposed to be 'like a Paris Hilton type', which partly explains her manners now.

Just to clarify on Vincent: They used a couple/few dogs over the course of the show. At one point there was a male dog but I think he was only used in the pilot. From then on it was a female dog based on what I've read and heard. This episode was shocking, to say the least. What will happen next???

Ok, so here's some suspicions I've had about Shannon's stepmother Sabrina. She married Shannon's father for his money. There is a will leaving Shannon money but Sabrina has hidden it and lied. It is also possible that the fatal accident was no accident. How long were they actually married, a long time or only a short period? Has she done this sort of thing before, married someone rich and then they've died on her? Has she ever changed her (and Boone's) identity? Boone would know but he's not telling and what he did know he would have been afraid to talk about while he was alive for fear of fatal consequences of his own. These are my speculations on the matter.

When Shannon was pulling money from Boone with her cons she was actually pulling money that should belong to her by birth (her father's money), pulling it from her step-mom via Boone who works for his mom.

Shannon definately grew on me 🙀

So many people loved Boone, and so many people loved to hate Shannon but lets do a quick recap and expose the final betrayal as well. On island Boone couldn't perform CPR, he couldn't find a pen for Jack, he couldn't save the girl from drowning, and then it cost her, her life when Jack chose to save Boone first. He stole the water bottles, and somehow flashed his specular blue eyes at the camara and convince Boone apologists that it was somehow Lockes fault that a grown man climbed a tree and got himself killed. (Boone was a sacrifice the island demanded). But off island Boone is no picnic either he pretends to be Shannon's helpful brother for a sister he obsessively criticizes although he is secretly in love with her. (Talk about self hatred) Then he takes a job making big money at Shannon's fathers company making BIG money. (A clever way for mommy to make sure her son is a trust fund baby. And then Boone decides he can't help Shannon in NY? In this episode we learn Shannon has every right to feel like people have let her down. When we see Boone going to Australia and learn its another Shannon shake down we think "what a bitch?" But here we learn that Shannon is just resourcefully finding a way to take back what is certainly more rightfully hers than Boone's.....

The issue I have with Shannon's behavior in backstories is that in this one, she refuses Boone's help, but in the other one, she's doing everything she can to TRICK him out of money. Sure, ultimately it's his mom's money (though it's easy to argue that that's the case in both flashbacks), but she could have just accepted his offer in the first place.

Spoilers ahead : The good thing about LOST. When characters die, theyre not gone forever. Boone shows up in Lockes episode in the sweat lodge. Charlie appears to Hurley back on the main land multiple times. Locke turns into MIB. Then of course the finale

fans blame shannon for screaming but ana lucia is walking to the other survivor's camp, close near to the beach and she decides to shoot someone screaming walt who she knows is michael's son and also knowing that the others make no noise. she's unredeemable in my opinion

Interesting episode this one with another great connection between two of our characters keep your eyes and ears open just in case there are more 😉 Another good reaction always a good watch.

I love this show, but I hated that they did the "trope" of a man (Sayid) not believing his woman (Shannon) when she says she's seen/experienced something weird. It's been done too many times in movies & shows. I wish they didn't have to go there with Sayid, of all people. The panic you felt, Rob. Understandable. Very unexpected scene. I was so mad at Anna Lucia.😄❤

I don't know why, but right from the start Ana Lucia was one of my very favourite characters. To be fair I have a lot of faves, but yeah, she was a big one. Also loved Eko right away. And Locke by like episode 2 or 3, Jack right away. Kate right away, Claire, Sayid, and Hurley. Very quickly went from disliking Jin a lot to him being a fave. At this stage of the show Sawyer grew on me a bit, but didn't like him much. Loved the actual character, like how he was written and stuff, though.

But seriously if Sayid had to choose between Nora(hometown love) or Shannon? Who you think he would choose?

I don't see how others hates Charlie for helping take care of Aaron was wrong for him to do. But yet someone stepping up to be a stepfather taking in kids that are not theirs in as their own. People love men that do that. Is that not what Charlie was doing. No it was not official. But the douche bag she was with walked out on her pregnant. Charlie has stepped up to be that man to help take care of Aaron. I always loved seeing that. Because I had a man step up and take care of me ans my brother as a step father because my dad didn't care to be in my life when I was little. Not until I was grown.
