I'm loving Lost Spear. The music is amazing in this game just like it was in I Am Setsuna. The game itself has a very Chrono Trigger vibe to it so that alone is great. For an RPG especially on the Switch I'd say this is a definite pick up.

I was playing the hell out of Shadow of the Colossus remaster right before the remake was announced. I love that game. I need to at least beat all of the Colossi again with the new graphics and see if I can climb to the secret garden. There were Easter eggs found for the Last Guardian too.

I pre-ordered a physical of Lost Sphear, I haven't receive it yet but I'm super excited to play it. I also really want to grab a copy of Shadow of the Colossus for PS4. Thanks for the review! :D

When it comes to the PS3 version of "Shadow Of The Colossus" one thing you notice right away (when comparing all 3 versions) is that the colossi shake around a lot more & as you mentioned it's a lot harder to keep your grip when on one. Not sure if this was intentional but it makes trying to platinum the PS3 version a real challenge. Even after 18 years the game continues to be explored, studied, scrutinized, discussed, played. And the 2005 CD soundtrack has never gone out of print. That really says something.

I preordered Lost Sphear back when it got announced and I’m about to get my copy in the mail. I’m hoping it’ll be good and worth the price. And from what you said, I might get Shadow Of The Colossus (never played it... I know, sacrilege). It looks awesome, so I might pick it up when it releases.

I never had SotC on PS2, but I had the Ico and SotC collection on PS3. Its such an amazing game and experience. I’m looking forward to this remake. Looks like they put some solid effort into this.

I just played through the greatest hits version of Shadow of the Colossus on PS2 for the first time early last year.. or the year before.. my memory on keeping track of the years isn't the best.. but I really enjoyed it and wouldn't mind playing the remake someday.

I thought the demo of Lost Sphear was pretty boring. Saying that though I’ll probably pick it up later in the year.

I pre-ordered the game yesterday and paid in full. Will pick it up on Feb. 6th.

I’m currently a fair ways into Lost Sphear and was searching for the music when I stumbled across this old video of yours. I had a feeling you covered it previously but it was good to find it again. I found it bland to begin with for a while but it does get better with the story and general combat later on. Not sure what you meant by side quests though as so far it’s just one long linear story. There aren’t any separate quests or rather optional ones, unless by side quests you mean the way the main story moves in different directions as it goes. I never played Chrono Trigger so I can’t really compare it but it quite reminds me of the 3DS Final Fantasy 3 I’ve played, albeit different mechanics for combat. The music is good too and has those oh so familiar feels I’ve got from other RPG’s before. The map music reminds me of FFX for example.

I love Shadow of the Colossus! I completed it 3 times on all difficulties and got a bunch of achievements. Great game!

Got no complaints in the Lost Sphear I loved it

Ico was my favourite game of all time, until Shadow of the Colossus came along. Took me a while to take to it, the controls were hard, but once I got into it I loved it. Still hasn’t been topped. I never made it to the secret garden, hope to make it this time.

Can't wait to get my hands on Shadow of the Colossus for the third time. I remember when I played the PS2 version in 2005 and my brother walked into the room and said "Is this a movie?" And I said "Yes, yes it is.

I picked up the physical copy for the Switch and I like it quite a bit.

I am so ready for BOTH of these games. Shadow of the Colossus is my second favorite game ever and I own the PS2 original as well as the Greatest Hits version and also the PS3 collection with ICO. I'm getting both the regular and special editions of this new PS4 version. Lost Sphear appeals to me as it seems like a true modernized version of a 90s JRPG. I'll take a chance on it, for sure.

I'll wait for a sale on Lost Sphear, but I am definitely amped for Shadow of the Colossus!

Shadow of the Colossus is probably my favorite PS2 game of all time....my favorite part of the game is tracking them down...no hand holding, it’s really up to you to figure out how to get to them..

I just grabbed The Last Guardian on sale, so I'll skip Shadow of Colossus for now, but I'll definitely get it later in the year. There are SO MANY great games this year, trying to balance playing games on my PS4 and Switch has left me with an insane back log from the Holidays. 😨

There is a reason why you were having trouble with the remaster. Somehow the dev team that ported it fucked up the coding when climbing the colossi. Once they realized the code was fucked up they actually for some reason could not fix it. You can look it up and see for yourself.

What frustrated me with Shadow of the Colossus on PS3 is how Wander felt lighter when you grabbed onto Colossi. The slightest movement sent him waving back and forth constantly like a wet noodle and it made for a very annoying experience i'm hoping the PS4 version fixes that. As for Lost Sphear, i might wait a sale, i don't know if it's worth the 70$.

Huh, I thought Shadow of the Colossus was just another HD remake? Didn't know they remade it from scratch? Now I'm almost interested. And as for Lost Sphear, i like it a lot. Sure, it's not an AAA-blockbuster with a billion dollar budget, but it's awesome for what it is. I would consider waiting for a sale if you're low on money, but it's definitely worth a check if you're into JRPGs.

I’m really looking forward to Lost Sphear, but i hate that it’s going to get so much blowback for not being ‘aaa’. I feel like the Tokyo RPG Factory games are going to occupy a market like monthly comic books or weekly television shows. People expect evety game, now, to be a blockbuster movie. But that’s not reasonable. You can’t expect every episode of Agents Of Shield fi make you feel like Winter Soldier. It’s all a matter of expectations.

No idea that Shadows of the colossus even existed until I saw it on here once or twice now.

I beat Shadow of the colossus for PS2 and PS3 and I was amazed with the 3D mode on the PS3 I'm kind of disappointed the remastered for PS4 doesn't have it. I'll get it, but I still think it's worth playing the PS3 version in 3D if you can it's Amazing.

i grew up playing on the ps2 with mydad and the games i played were shadow of the colossus spider-man 2 crash of the titans lego star wars the video game and batman begins the video game

Hopefully it runs flawlessly, we don't need a 4th and 5th version of the game. It's a remake but they are using the same code, so the game will control the same like the ps2 version, which is a good thing, of the hd remaster version they changed the coding and he controlled and dangled like a noodle when climbing and made the game so much harder. This would have been nice on pc though, as games age way better there. But, I will buy this for a third and hopefully final time :) I understand why you smashed that controller lol.

You know, I'll be honest, I played SotC once way back on PS2 and I tried the PS3 version and I just couldn't enjoy it. It always felt clumsy and weirdly unresponsive to me. I respect it for what it is, however. That said, this new version, I'm definitely giving a chance. 60 fps, incredibly beautiful and "updated" sounds like I might finally "get" this game.

Ive been wanting to play I am Setsuna for 2 yrs now and im gonna get it this year i swear!! so id rather pay 20-40 to get that then 50-60 for Sphere as there are very similar. I just picked up Ys Origin so im finally getting into that series so far so good - Matt

I am Setsuna was a fantastic game, happy to see it already is getting a spiritual successor.

I am in the minority here, but I am not a Shadow of Colossus fan, so I doubt I will get it, It looks great though. Lost Sphere looks interesting and I may pick it up on a sale sometime.

I took the game out of my ps2 and whipped it across my house then ground it into the floor. A few months later I tried the game again and loved it but it kept freezing after the 3rd fight. May have to give it another try

The JRPG combat I prefer is the Dragon Quest style, that is fully turn-based. People seem to only think of JRPGs as Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger :(.

As great as Shadow of The Colossus was, it had it's time and place for me. I already have too many PS4 games than I can probably play, and there's games coming that I won't be able to miss either. Just too much great stuff to play that's new on the PS4. I don't have time for a remade PS2 game that I played years ago. It does look great though.

The controls and the camera it is something that always annoyed me. So much when playing this and that's the reason I never played for that a couple of hours. I was thinking getting this version but when I think about the control I was like no way. I don't believe that they have built this game from the ground up otherwise they would definitely have fixed the controls and the camera.

Square really thinks they can create the past again by just coldly calculating and imitating. I don't think their mind is in the right place yet but I do like that they keep trying, and the fact that they actually acknowledge the need for "nostalgic RPG-experiences" (even though they don't seem to actually understand what it means). Traditional-style RPGs deserve the hype but I think it's really sad how these are the only ones people seem to recognize, even though companies like Falcom and Atlus have provided tons and tons of "modern classics" for many years, without ever betraying their ancient fanbases and without ever losing their touch. But I guess their marketing has never been the greatest, compared to Scrooge Enix, I mean Square Enix. SotC was a game of its time, unique and captivating but also restricted. Limitations are part of the charm in gaming, but, in terms of SotC on PS4, I would have loved to see Team Ico's full vision. They could have added things they originally planned. They could have made SotC in a way they originally envisioned. They already ported it once before so there's that for the players who don't want changes. But you can shake a gaming masterpiece, you can break it apart. Because the original game still exists. So yes, I'm slightly disappointed that Team Ico chose the "easy route". They awakened their own colossus once again without conquering it.

The only problem I have with Lost Sphear is the price. When it's cheaper I will certainly get it. SoTC is ok in the pricing, but I have already played two versions, so I'm gonna wait a discount as well.

SOTC looks better than it plays,incredible looking open world in which there is absolutely nothing to do other than admire the vistas! Don't get me wrong I liked the game but I don't get the hype that says this is one of the greatest ever made! Clunky controls.clunky camera controls making admiring the world a lot harder than it should be! The boss battles are very cool and the sense of scale is epic but I think the hype may be just a tad over the top in my opinion!

We need a cat mod dlc for this game ,killing the colosus as a cat will sell millions.

Can you really recommend Lost Sphear after saying it's not a triple A game even though it's got a triple A price tag? I'm interested in the game, but it really seems the price tag is way too high for what it is.

A game has to grab me by the ball's and hold on or I just don't have the time for them anymore. I am only 37 but I have 2 Daughters to raise and a full time 12 hour job to deal with.
