Love how the music swells up and gives you a heartwarming, elative sense of relief as they are just about to get rescue and then all of sudden Tom completely flips and orders him to give the boy. Damn that shit was wild the first time I saw it. Imagine being out in the middle of the ocean on a makeshift raft, then being intercepted by a crew of pirate henchman working for a machiavellian mastermind looking to kidnap your kid.

I love this scene so much. Still haunts me so many years later. Obviously I knew that something was going to go wrong but I figured maybe the boat would end up sinking somehow or something like that. And the way that Michael reacts after Tom says “We’re gonna have to take the boy” breaks my heart every time. There’s something about Harold Perrineau’s delivery, the genuine confusion in his voice as he says “What-what did you say?” like he’s convinced he must have misheard them. Then the chaotic nature of the last minute, Walt being taken away, not knowing if Sawyer is even alive...such a brilliant way to end the season.

This is the best scene in the entire series in my opinion. The joy they felt is so weird, Michael literally slurring his words because he can’t even believe it. I love how the scene takes a dramatic shift, and while you’re trying to process what happened, all you can hear is the creaking of the raft. That creaking is like the calm before the storm, and you just know this scene is about to take a turn for the worst. There’s so many parts that make it beautiful. But that last WALT scream at the end, wow.

I can still remember watching the scene for the first time. I was sitting on the edge of my bed with my mouth wide open and a long ash hanging off my cigarette. It's still one of the best yet heartbreaking scenes of the show.

Still a chilling scene so many years later. Impossible not to feel bad for Michael and Walt here. This could have perfectly been the last scene of the season if it weren't so depressing.

Absolutely heartbreaking how they never reunited when Lost ended, not even through the afterlife. Michael died alone without the son he so desperately loved for his whole entire life. The story of Michael and Walt is definitely one of the saddest.
@galactic85 Жыл бұрын
We didn't see them in the afterlife but that doesn't mean they didn't reunite eventually. It's implied in "new man in charge" that walt is going to help his father move on and make peace. Walt likely will become protector of the island and when his time ends I believe that he and his father will reunite in thebafterlife and moce on together. It will just take them a little but longer for them to move on, much like how Ben wasn't ready to leave yet when everyone else reunited st the church. Everyone will move on eventually it will just take longer for some of them than others.

The way michael jumps up and down and exclaims "we were in a plane crash, we-we we were on an island" only to have tom cut him off at the end of his sentence to say "well its a good thing we found you!" Is truly terrifying. Tom was then and there trying to slowly make him realize what was really going on by cutting him off but by still being falsely polite. Tom was a psychopath and deserved to die by sawyer in the end.

I see that Tom Friendly never shot Sawyer or ordered him to be shot. So, throughout most of Season 2, Sawyer had been fooling himself into believing that Tom had actually shot him.

In season 2 episode 1, Shannon sees Walt in the woods, drenched in water, and he talks in reverse saying "Don't push the button...". Anyone have any insight or opinion explaining this? Of all the messages he could have delivered, requested help for himselfwarned them about the others....why this of all things? I suppose the chain of events in the hatch like Libby and Ana getting capped wouldn't have happened if they'd stopped as well as the failsafe potentially being used maybe causing a time reset or sideways universe where none of this happened. But how did he even know about the button? Why was he wet? So many questions in Lost that never got answered which easily could have (I know this because I thought up my own all encompassing explanations).

What I don't understand is why Tom and the rest of The Others didn't continue the ruse? Pretend to lead The Raft Guys to safety...then, when they least expect it, restrain/knock out the adult men and take Walt then?

@@shahaman5694 The answer isn't clear and there are several options. Walt was "special", i. e. he had some super abilities as it was shown through the movie and the Others wanted to get him as test subject (see Lost: Missing Pieces - Room 23). Love Lost but man do I hate The Others (not counting Juliet and Ben I love + love to hate). Without a doubt the most annoying faction in fiction that love to say "We'RE tHe GoOD gUyS". Just a group of arrogant, unrepenting, and unhelpful cultists who do creepy ass sh*t like this and then seem surprised when the Oceanic 815 survivors call them on their bull sh*t or fight back.

All this time we thought sawyer was the most repulsive, unlovable character in the show. Turns out it is michael. Never grateful for anything, will blame everyone when things turn bad for him, and in general totally repulsive character...
