Who are we? 💁🏼‍♀️
We're Tom and Iz, a young couple from Cornwall, the UK, who live and travel full time in our van La Bamba. We love nature and try to spend as much time as possible wild swimming, hiking and being outdoors! 10 years ago we had a whirlwind summer romance, then went our separate ways to travel and go to university and fast forward 4 years later, we found ourselves back in the same place at the same time as each other and the rest is history.
Why Van Life? 🚐
We bought the van back in 2019 whilst Iz was training to be a secondary science teacher. "Van Life" isn't something I had followed online during my teacher training, but within days of my brothers showing me KZfaq videos of people living in vans, I became obsessed. I was really unhappy in my training and very stressed.
"Van Life" was an escapism for me and it represented freedom. I had some money saved up and my brothers showed me our van "La Bamba" on gumtree. I forced myself to sleep on it and the next day I asked my dad if he would come with me to Bournemouth to view it. Meanwhile Tom is in Estonia on a stag do for his best friend. We haven't spoken about getting a van before and I know nothing about what makes a van good and no idea on van conversions! But I buy it! I phone Tom to say we now have a van - whoops! We were all so excited. With the help of my brothers and the space on my mum's drive (and lots of KZfaq videos) and alongside full time work and uni, we convert her to live in! 🛠
Two years later and Iz finds work she can do remotely from the van and Tom starts our KZfaq channel. 📸
Since then we haven't looked back and when the pandemic allowed us to, we travelled to Spain, Portugal, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and most recently we have completed a road trip from Cornwall to Estonia (via Norway). 🎥

as a Slovak, I recommend you to visit the Muránská plain with the Zbojská farmstead near Brezno. You can taste typical Slovak specialties, make a small circuit through the gorge, go to the Čiernohronská railway (very impressive) 🙋‍♂️🇸🇰✊

Sorry to sound like the safety police … but. Love your videos and watch them all with envy. I noticed that in this video that you were far from shore with your SUP board but no buoyancy aid. That’s fine if you use the board in its place but you might think about tethering yourself with the ankle strap just to be on the safe side. Apologies for sounding like a busy body, just a genuine concern for your safety. Keep living the best adventure and thanks for taking us on your journey

You can get little electric pumps that work off 12v. They also work with mattresses. Alternatively I'm sure you can get an adapter that works of an electric tire pump. Multi use.

I've also used a bit of clean river sand swirled round and round inside the tank to clean off algea. You can use a tablet afterwards if you like, but I don't bother.

When I was in Holland there was a shop where you all dressed up in traditional costume and had your photo taken. You should try it. You'd look great. I think they must have them in other countries too.

In the first lake swimming, it is sunken village actually. There are buildings under the water.

I use a lifestraw water filter. It's small so takes up no space and filters water very well.

Hi from Australia. Give your tank a good clean as others have suggested. You need to use chlorinated water to keep it clean. Because you use bottled water it is missing out on the cleaning chemicals. Safe travels. 🧡

In view of the ‘wardrobe failure’ a needle & thread may be a cost effictive remedy and it would be interesting to see your sewing skills. Perhaps ‘Serna Sews' would be a good book for a Birthday/Christmas present from Tom, (also on social media! )

Be careful when flying your drone. It is prohibited in national parks in Slovakia. Good luck on your journey.

I am pretty sure that wasn't the top of the route. It was half of it. You can go to the very top that is barren with a few lakes. Whole route is intermediate. Part you did was easy one. Looks like you reached only the wooden cabin. Maybe it was that closed one that reaches the top.

Great scenery. 1726 when I write this any the temperature is 32 Met office say it is going to get cooler, hope so. Hosepipe bans in many parts.

No A/C in the van. It is pretty hot, but seeing the news it doesn’t look like it’s much hotter here than back home. These are the tatras, we will be heading to the Carpathians soon if all goes to plan

@@LostInTransit Tatras are the part of Carpathian mountain range which goes through multiple countries...but High Tatras in Slovakia are the highest point. Most of the range is in Romania.

Not trying to be crude, but it is THE most important subject.....so I take it the porta potty use is an absolute last resort and you never walk past a public/supermarket convenience or a secluded wooded area (armed with spade of course)? Aside from that I'd be worried about that wee thing coping with my production capacity.

I would not say ABSOLUTE last resort, we use it a lot more now than we used to. We do use public toilets where possible and do occasionally do wild poos (most wees are wild unless urban and spade in hand of course) BUT having seen how many spots are just becoming toilets we actually dont feel comfortable contributing to that so use the toilet more often. It probably needs emptying every three days or so for both capacity and smell reasons (this has only really become an issue in the heat)

I actually had never really thought about it, but i think i would like to become more of a "cash person" from now on. We do converse with locals occasionally (more so in countries with more english speaking locals) but we are also usually pretty cautious with the camera and normally put it way if we do.
