Man… I hate to say this. Let me preface what comes next by saying that I’ve been a fan of ya’ll since this channel started getting into rock and metal years ago. Your Tool, Metallica, and even your love-hate (hate-hate?) relationship with the progressiveness of Dream Theater has made your honest reactions amazing and entertaining as hell. I am not as big a fan of hip hop as I am progressive rock/metal, but I grew up in NY and have cemented a connection to the culture in some degree. So my opinion may not carry as much weight as others weighing in. With all that said, I must admit that following your string of videos on this battle is making it obvious where your biases lie. Your approach to the allegations, whether true or false, such as the pedophilia vs domestic violence and infidelity is night and day. For example, Ya’ll barely acknowledged the first one when alluded to in Meet the Grahams until Kendrick made it blatantly obvious and difficult to ignore in Not Like Us. And in this video, Ya’ll hooked in for like 5 minutes on Drake using the spiraling line, which to me was a lazy way to spin what Kendrick had already said in a previous track about the “former actor spiraling.” Bruh… I’ve never bought or downloaded songs from either artist, so I don’t have a dog in this fight, but my opinion here is that you boys are letting your biases affect your judgment. My 2 cents.

Going into this beef like before this started I was a much much bigger Kendrick fan than Drake it wasn’t close so I initially thought Drake would get washed no diff. But when I hear beefs I imagine them as a battle rap and each song being a round and when you put these songs against one another drake won. I think Drake did a good job rebuttalling Kendrick’s lyrics and like they said he actually took a stance on the allegations and denied them while Kendrick was attacking drake’s character and belittling him that way I think Drake did a good job of doing the same as well as addressing the things that was said towards him and I personally think him being able to respond to multiple ppl who are big artist but while focusing on one of the best artist to pick up a pen should be credited to his own ability as an artist himself not that it gives him bonus points in the beef I just think that gets overlooked. I think this battle showed us that there are a lot more drake haters than Kendrick supporters because so many ppl were quick to jump on the drakes an alleged pedo thing but are genuinely overlooking that Kendrick is an alleged abuser. In battle rap they have a thing where one person wins in the room while another wins on camera based on the video meaning someone in the room receives so much more love and cheers that it seems to not be close but when you watch it on camera ignoring the crowd and focusing on the bars you come to a new result without crowd bias playing into it and i believe that Kendrick won the room but Drake destroyed him on the video. All this to say I wasn’t a fan of the direction this beef went into cause if either one of those allegations come into light to be true it’d make me view some of my favorite rappers differently. But overall this showed both of their ability to do more than make a song a think great rappers should be able to make diss records and combat one another so it showed levels in their ability to do so. One of the most overlooked bars: Right before the A minor B sharp run he says "drake is not a name youll see on any sex offender list- easy does it-" Drake makes a referenxe to the Eazy E track Eazy Duz It, which was sampled by Metro on Like That. The context makes it clear that Drake is alluding to Eazy E and the rest of NWA having some extreme allegations and charges brought against them by a 16 year old girl who claimed that she became pregnant after being sexually assaulted by them. NWA's track She Swallowed It includes lyrics about getting head from a 14 year old girl who sucks like a professional. So when he says Easy does it, he is reminding kendrick of yet another group of his own idols whom have been accused of the things Kendrick accuses drake of- with much crazier circumstances to back it up, such as Prince marrying a girl he adopted at age 16, MJ having kids sleep in his bed with him, R. Kelly on videotape, etc etc. Kendrick has defended these people and is currently attcking drake with FAR less incriminating evidence.

what makes kendrick great is hes a introspective thought provoking and emotionally empathic evoking writer or poet, it's why he won a pulitzer, hes the only rapper to ever win it cause they give them to poets and thought provoking authors for a reason, they don't care how great your word play is or how lyrically witty you can be while dissing someone... they don't care how seamlessly you set up clever punchlines or how many entendres you create while writing a hard diss about someone... but thats the shit that makes battle rap cool and thus a part of how we've always judged it... Drake is the one whose more experienced in this situation and already proven several times he can write in the way kendricks now trying to write himself. In fact I believe the reason the gahrams didn't work besides an entire verse literally talking to a made up daughter, is because he tried to write in a more familiar way which isn't a effective way to diss someone, why kendrick is so great is his ability to write in a way that evokes empathic emotion out of people, hes the very best at writing introspectively and in a way that's thought provoking. I thought I'd try to explain why even though to me Drake won this battle, it doesn't mean I think Drakes necessarily the better rapper, hes just better at this style of rapping than kendrick is, and theres no question Drake couldnt do what kendrick is the very best at...

I'm glad I found an unbiased channel. I thought I was losing my mind as someone without a horse in the race who only cared about the best bars/rebuttals/lyrics/music/etc and felt Drake was delivering more. Even if you disagree I don't understand how people are talking about it being so lopsided. Just wanted to show love for the unbiased breakdown. They both had some good stuff but I felt Drake had more of what I was looking for.

My biggest problem with this whole track is that he refuted having the child, but his rebuttal to messing around with young girls is "Im too rich for that." Weakest rebuttal in history. I would have double downed on it and made it clear, because when people see you making out with a 17 year old girl on stage, they're not going to care about "Im too famous for that." Its like saying "Im not a pedophile because I havent been caught."
