Certainly worked for us

As mentioned I have the Elegance 835. It's a mid washroom but the bed is the same as yours but at the rear. I am also 5'11" and here's something that worked for me. The supplied mattress insert adds about 13" to the length of the bed in day mode. I replaced it with a bit of foam 7" wide thus increasing the gap at the foot of the bed by 6". The bed is still long enough for me. Try putting the supplied insert in place sideways as a test and try the length for yourself. If it works you can have a new (smaller) insert made, but to be honest, the foam is hidden under the sheet and pillows so isn't seen. 👍

Also a mahoosive thank you for covering the bed dilemma for us👍🏻This has most definitely helped us with our decision to search for a new to us caravan. Before this vlog we were only looking for 8ft wide vans due my misconception of there being masses of room at the bottom of the bed to get passed in night mode. We don't like the mid bathroom end bedroom as we find these caravans very closed in and claustrophobic. We are on the larger side so we also like the plenty of room that the end bathroom and bigger shower offers us plus the openness and sense of space that the caravan gives you is much better for us. We have previously had a look at the coachman lusso but were somewhat put off, with the fact that similarly even at 8ft wide it seemed to have not much room with the bed in night mode. So we put that down to it being the model rather than anything else, but obviously after your vlog we can now see that this is still a common issue with all caravans models and not just the non 8ft wide models. So what your vlog has done is made us re-think our options and open up further caravans for us to consider and not just the 8ft wide options to look at. Diolch!. Your bed mattress is the problem i think. As our Buccanner top piece that you drop in is in 2 halves. So I removed the one piece as they are zipped in. So the night mode for us is fine as we then don’t slide the bed out all the way just enough to cover the mattress which leaves adequate room at the bottom to get round no problem. I’m 5’7 and my feet don’t hang over if I was taller then it wouldn’t work. We just use a conventional sheet from home on the mattress no problem.

Hi guys we had the same problem but if you turn the other way we found it much easier. Plus im 6 foot plus and 22 stone so not small its not easy but easier

Hmmm I thought the 8’ wide vans had alleviated this problem, it would drive me nuts. We have the French bed and I sleep on the inside thankfully it’s very rare for me to need to get up during the night. I’m very happy with our set up. I’m not a fan of mid ship bathrooms either, it makes the van feel cramped and compartmentalised, it’s a good thing we’re all different 😁 Sorry your fridge has had a wobbler 🥲
