Russell Carr has been working for Lotus since 1990 and was appointed head of design in 2014. His work can be seen in the Lotus Esprit facelift, Europa S, Evora, and upcoming Evija.
Gavan Kershaw has been the Director of Attributes and Product Integrity since 2017. He sets the targets, benchmarks and evaluation sign-off on everything to do with the performance of Lotus cars. He's never worked anywhere else, so to say he cares about the brand would be an understatement.
Matt Windle served as the Executive Director of Engineering until January of 2021 when he was named the Managing Director of Lotus Cars.

When people like Gav, Russ, and Matt sit at the helm, it's very easy to see why Lotus pushes out some of the most dynamically pure cars on the road. Car guys to their core. Couple their passion and experience with real investment from Geely and let's say I'm very excited to own my first Lotus (Emira).

Hey I got to meet Gavin! At Malibu Cars & Coffee I spent just about half an hour talking to him about the Emira and it was one of the coolest moments of my life getting to speak to a man who designed and built one of the coolest cars I’ve ever seen. You can tell he cares and he’s passionate and knows what he’s doing.

I've gone back to this podcast more than two times to relisten to it. It's so amazing to hear these top-tier car engineers and designers giving their honest opinion on so many aspects of development without any corporate bullshit. I love it and still wish them the very best even though it looks like 12 months on from this podcast, the Emira seems to still face some trouble coming to market!

I'm really glad you asked about the battery location. I don't think people have internalized yet how big of a difference it will makes to the handling to keep the battery centralized where the engine would be versus the batteries low in the floorpan like most EVs. Sure the low CG is great for the Teslas, etc but the handling sucks.

Just a suggestion: Keep a tv on the opposite side of the current(behind Zack) This way the one guest isn't blankly starring. Might not be a net value add but quality is a thing haha

I have an e46 M3 convertible. I love it’s duality but to get the dynamics out of a saloon chassis it drives hard whereas Lotus are the masters of dynamic drive with compliance
