The ace in the whole was a reference to Alastor being asexual (and Aromantic), but cuz of his time period he didn’t get the joke.

I also heard that he doesn't actually know he's asexual. He just thinks he hasn't met the one for him. This makes sense since the only people to question their sexuality back then were gay people, for obvious reasons.

Don’t forget Allistor was a serial killing psychopath before death. So of course he has social flaws and didn’t get the cues. On top of that, he just let Charlie talk her head off and not consoled her. He needed Rosie for that.

Vaggie's wings coming back KIND OF makes sense - I mean, Lute took her eye with an angelic weapon, but she tore her wings off bare-handed, so, they probably grew back naturally. I'm guessing Vaggie just never deployed them for, well, psychosomatic reasons.

I think my favorite detail is that Charlie fails to convince Suzan and snaps, when she's doubting herself, but after gaining her confidence and moxie back, she handles her so seamlessly that Suzan can't even complain at her. The sparkle is there, the showmanship, and it's not mediocre anymore. She's even nodding sagely at one point.

When Rosie calls Alastor an "Ace in the hole" it is in reference to the fact Alastor is Asexual and Aromantic. I love how when Vaggie uses long hair as the excuse for being beat Carmilla lets her hair down to prove a point. My one issue with this episode is how Vaggie says she didnt know angels can be harmed...She is an angel and was harmed lol

I think Vaggie assumed she was harmed because it was an angel that was weelding the weapon, and not the weapon itself.

I definitely feel like they could have been clearer on that last point, but it's not that wild for Vaggie to assume her case was special for some reason. Because she was being attacked by another angel instead of a demon or because she might technically have counted as a fallen angel at that point, etc. Especially given how much she already hates herself, I'm sure she could come up with a lot of excuses for why she would be weaker than the other angels

"Ace in a hole" is a poker term that means "an advantage or a resource kept back until the proper opportunity presents itself". However, in this instance there's a hidden meaning in that Rosie is saying Alastor is asexual. Which he is. Viv confirmed he's AroAce.

I think most of lesser characters in the series can be seen as cameos in the pilot including Carmilla, Zestial, Mimzy, Razzle & Dazzle, the Vees. Even the round headed smoking guy can be seen at one point.

I am also a very big fan of Carmilla and would love to see more of her in the next season! I love how she steps to the beat of the song during "out for Love" it is one of my favorite little details in animation when some form of movement is synced with the music playing.

I live the psychological aspect of the troops she picked. It's one thing to know the enemy plans to kill you, but it's a WHOLE different level of terrifying to know that they plan to kill you and then EAT YOU. Like sorry not sorry, count me out. 😂

Rosie uses "Youre an Ace in the hole" as a double entendre. The original meaning means "Has an advantage over someone or a rival", he just made a deal with Charlie and is there with Rosie to put said plan in motion. The second meaning is she's teasing him about his sexuality with knowing he's asexual but made a joke he had roped in a younger gal, Charlie.

Yes. episodes 7 and 5 are my personal favorite for a reason. Glad you now know why 😄 Also I LOVE the dynamic Alastor and Rosie have. They are such besties 💜✨💅 I bet he got that attitude from Rosie. He definitely had some before but Rosie honed it to perfection. and to think Rosie did what Lilith should be doing.. it's a little funny. Charlie could almost call her.. *moooom* 😆 no like seriously. They might not have the best intentions (aka yeah, let's mani- um.. GUIDE her) but they are like supportive step parents.. or at least.. like cool auntie Rosie and cool uncle Al giving her the proud step dad thumb up and stuff...

One of my hopes for the future is a story arc for Vaggie where she needs to figure out who she is outside of Charlie, and more training and development of that relationship with Carmilla I feel like would be a great part of that

The "ace in the hole" joke has two meanings: - A hidden advantage or resource kept in reserve until needed - and since Alastor is asexual and aromantic, it is also an allusion to him; but he don't know the term (hence he is dead since the 1930s) and so that's why he is confused The wings Vaggie got that is because she believes in herself and more: That she want to protect Charlie. CarmillasVA is Daphne Rubin-Vega, and yes: She's amazing! ( I love her singing voice too!) Everything in this show has a deeper meaning 🤣

8:04 one braincell moment, lol. Ace in a hole can mean 3 things: 1) Alastor is aromantic asexual and Rosie knows better than him 2) it's a term for a wild card. A secret weapon which can be used later for your advantage 3) ace in a hole (a-hole) and Rosie for sure meant that he's asexual but we know this show and her deeper meaning in things now..
