This song takes its inspiration from the original Mambo #5 by Perez Prado, from the 1950s. That vocal growl was Perez Prado's signature thing. Back in the 1940s and 1950s. Latin music, mainly from Cuba, became very popular in the States and actually around the world. The mambo was a very popular dance that everyone wanted to learn and do. It's the predecessor of salsa music and salsa dancing 💃

The backing track is by Perez Prado recorded back in 1949 Perez Prado recorded Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom white, Easily his best, worth a listen if you like big band Mambo music.

Sorry I haven't watched in awhile; all of the sudden I saw numerous notifications for Super Fun songs! Like you went down a happy rabbit hole! Watched and upvoted all. Ahaha..Mambo #5...made me laugh at the memories attached to this song. I even had a dog that loved this song...and learned to dance and bark the 1-2-3-4-5. My kids knew every word of this song even. I really don't know if Lou Bega put out any other stuff. He might have been a one hit wonder. But..that song was awesome. I put this song up there on the classics list with "Puttin' on the Ritz" by Taco.
