The "Sally Can't Dance" Tour 13th August 1974 in Sydney Australia. Show kicked off with "Sweet Jane" then "Vicious" Was leaning on the stage, just to the left of his mic stand. Half way through "Heroin" he crouched down, took off his sunglasses, nose to nose checking out my eyes I guess? I was like ... OK? Stunned to be honest and admit I was pretty ripped myself 😎👀 He stood up and played on. 😆😍

What a big disappointment that tour was for me anyway Kevin. I saw Reed and Hall and Oates opened up for him and he came out with that white hair looking way too high and it was nothing like what I was hoping it would be. The whole year before me and all my friends were rocking out to the whole Rock n Roll Animal Live album one of the greatest live rock albums EVER IMHO, and then this Sally Can't Dance No more shit came out...almost as bad as Aerosmith at MSG as far as big disappointments go. Rick Derringer blew them off the Garden stage that night.

@@JimDiBattista Earlier that year we had Jethro Tull, Osibisa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Muddy Waters and SLADE (followed by Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath later that year) which were hard acts to follow. I guess being up front and leaning on the stage watching his effort is about all that saved it, most other shows that era were strict seating only, plus the band, sound and lighting were good and that carried the show. That album was the last Lou Reed I ever bought though.

Best album Lou made imo. Rock 'n Roll Animal is the perfect combination of overpowered talented musicians and Lou Reed at his best. This version of Sweet Jane is still great, but i think Lou had a little too much powder up his nose this time ;)

It's a live version, he experimented a lot. Also the original Velvet Underground is awesome, but made like several years before this. Also drugs.

Absolutely.... what was all the hype about? I saw this lineup in Adelaide South Australia 1974 supported by AC/DC. Reed had a massive LBGT following back then and the promoters thought AC/DC would fit because of their name.... I still remember being blown away by AC/DC Man they were Tight!

@@Gbhbbgvsbnjhhdchhb Evident in this clip was the fact that Lou couldn't sing his own songs, could not stay on time or melody and could NOT dance or "rock out" convincingly. What an embarrassing case of the "emperors new clothes"! All hype on his VU legend that John Cale & Sterling Morrison created half of.

@@crimsonwolf9099 yes indeed, Reed was shrewd in surrounding himself with the cream of New York’s finest musicians to carry him. Herbie Flowers made Wild Side a hit with that impeccable bass line. I never really got Lou Reed but loved his bands.
