Leave it to Randy Guyer and another great classic Mopar! This 300-C has to have a stall shift convertor kit installed in it's transmission with that 2nd gear chirp! The 392 Hemi engine sounds healthy, and the Highway Hi Fi record player that actually works! It's rare to see an actual working record player. Randy sure has an amazing collection of vintage Mopars, and of course, with fins! 👍

Love it! Growing up, a family friend had a 1955 300, which he got when it was 2 years old and owned it until his death in the late-90's, when he was in his 90's. He had it up to 126 mph once and it was still accelerating. Generally, an automatic-equipped car won't get 'scratch' when shifting unless the transmission has been modified. It takes an increase in working pressure, shift overlap tightened up and reducing the accumulator spring pressure for the kickdown(intermediate, 2nd gear) band. When behind a Hemi, a torqueflite usually had more clutches and a higher performance kickdown band. This was especially the case with the later 428 Hemi and the 440 six-pack.

Another great car! 1957 was the year of several first's for Chrysler. Number one was the styling. It was also the first year for torsion bars and the 3 speed torqueflyte transmission. On a side note those had no second gear accumulator so it was easy to get rubber when they shifted into second gear. The reason some of the cars in the brochure have only signal headlights is that dual headlights weren't allowed in all states until later in the year. My grandpa had a 57 Dodge that he bought new. The first year torsion bars had a problem with rust near the rear of the bar. This was especially true in the rust belt states. The bars would snap sometimes when the cars were only a few years old. We were eating Christmas dinner when we heard a loud bang out in grandpas garage. When we looked out there the Dodge was sitting down on one front corner. The torsion bar had broken.

Hearing that chirp into 2nd gear reminded me of my days as an Austin police officer driving a ‘78 Plymouth Fury 440cid beast. It had a calibrated speedometer up to 140 mph but topped out in the high 120s. I thought it was blazing fast but reading the specs it went 0-60 in 9.2 seconds! Just like the home I grew up in, not as big as I remembered! Thanks for another good one Lou.

As expected with Randy, an impeccable restoration on an impressive model car. Leaving the World's Fair sticker on and working around it was an excellent move. I collect 1964-65 NYWF items and that sticker was actually gotten at a Mobil gas station. They offered a packet to promote the fair when you bought gas with pamphlets, maps, and stickers. I actually have a complete one.

An awesome video!!! As an old timer, I'm lending some information about the special order, manual crank windows. The original owner probably paid extra to have them manual crank as did a lot of people because the big three, Chrysler, Ford and GM, during his era were having terrible trouble with power windows. The wrong type of wire insulation was being used for the wire leading out of the body into the door for the power windows causing terrible shorting out and windows randomly going up and down or not able to raise them, etc.

Nice, Lou. Some may differ but to me, The 300's were the first muscle cars. ok, full sized vs intermetiate like a Tempest but ruled.

Thank you, Lou, Randy, and the magnificent Mike Swedal of his fine work. I'm going to be sad when Randy runs out of cars to share with us. The cars from his collection have become regular content. He's a nice guy, very smart, and I appreciate that he's willing to share his collection with us, through you Lou. While I'm not a tire expert, I was shocked by Randy's 130MPH achievement on bias-ply tires. Maybe a tire-guy can comment on this. I enjoyed the detail on the Highway HI-FI. And it was interesting to learn that a three-hundred series car could be de-contented apparently through the ordering process. This mostly for the young guys- In regard to the wheel chock, I wanted to add to Randy and Mike's info on push-button transmissions not having a park position. Chrysler used the push-button system through 1964. And I can confirm that later versions of push-button cars did have a dedicated park-lever. While I can't confirm the exact model years for these, I can confirm that both my '62 Valiant and '64 New Yorker did have a dedicated park lever. I'm not nit picking here, I'm building to the point that Chrysler Corporation fluid-drive cars (beginning with the 1939 model year) never had a park position or dedicated park pin at the flywheel. These were always secured by the parking brake, that utilized a driveshaft mounted drum brake. Parking both fluid-drive and the push-button Chrysler products must have been odd to people in the sense that every driver knew manual transmission cars (which are all there were prior to fluid-drive) could be left in either first gear or reverse, and sufficiently hold the car. I'm sure with the advent of fluid-drive well-seasoned drivers would forget to use the parking brake, finding their car had rolled away from where it had been parked.

Hi Lou, This might be the best car you've ever shown on your channel !! IMO the '57 Chryslers were the most amazing looking cars ever produced, & the 300C was the pinnacle. This example is flawless!! Keep showing these 50s & early 60s Chryslers. I'm really enjoying.

We couldn’t possibly overstate the sheer amount of work that went into this immaculate restoration. We’re looking at the absolute best skills on the market. 🏆 No factory can deliver this result … cept maybe Rolls Royce. My dad owned a 57 Dodge (Regent)(🇨🇦) flathead 6. Ended up being a total lemon. Because of winters in Canada it ended up looking like a “rust bucket” 😂😂 Brings back early childhood memories… notably the chrome dash knobs. That owner has to be one of the nicest guys in the world. I believe the Worlds Fair decal is from a Mobil giveaway in spring 1964. They were distributed at Mobil stations in NYC and its suburbs. The giveaway was a double pocket folder loaded with Worlds Fair info, Mobil ads and that sticker. When you showed the decal, memories of my Dad cutting off the left side of it and then sticking the Unisphere portion in one of the back side windows of our 62 Rambler American wagon popped up. BTW the station we got it at still exists, albeit rebuilt numerous times. It was still a Mobil until the merger and it’s now a Lukoil station. It’s located on Rt 4 Eastbound in Hackensack NJ just west of the Hackensack River.

I was really wanted to see the 1960 I believe I saw in the background. We had a 1960 Windsor with the Golden Lion engine growing up and I still love that car.

The real beginnings of muscle cars if you consider the engines alone. Because my dad had a 64 New Yorker, I’ve always loved these big Chrysler’s! And in case you don’t know, those records are seldomly seen and very collectible in the record collecting market. Thx Lou.

Back in 1964 I got accepted at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL. My parents decided on a road trip to take me there. When we were in North Florida we were driving alone a road beside a grown up are near a bit of a swamp. We were doing the speed limit when a couple of young women in a small car flew past us doing probably 80 or 90 MPH. About a half hour or so we saw some cars stopped along the highway. Down in off the road in the mud was the small car with the 2 young women in it. Sitting among the cars was a Black 300 who was trying to render aid. We stopped and my parents gave them a couple of towels because of the bleeding. The man in the 300 took the women into his car and took of like a bat to the nearest town which was probably about 40 miles or so down the road. About an hour later we came into the town and saw the 300 sitting there. He was probably there for about 30 minutes considering the speed he was going. I never saw anything going that fast on the highway. We inquired about the girls and found out that they were doing okay thanks to him and his 300 with Ram induction. There was no other way to help them at the time and he came up with his 300 at the right time. I recall my dad commenting on how fast he must have been going to get them there so quickly.

What a beauty body style a little like the Batman car -- an unbelievable automobile to cruise around on a beautiful sunny breezy day ... you know Lou we could be witnessing millions of years of automation, engineering of glorious proportions today ... its unbelievable these beautiful cars of enormous details ... the intelligence is scary beautiful !! thanks Lou 😊

One of my uncles died at age 25 because a wheel chock did not hold, and he got caught between a boat and a big automobile when they were putting the boat into a large body of water. (Probably the Mississippi River) Those were valuable items when they worked in those days!

Lou, Just a small correction to Mr Guyer’s comment that the 375 hp version was the only one available as there was a 390 hp version on the options list.

According to Google, wheel chock inventors applied for patents in 1952 but did not get the patent until 1957.

Mercury had the Turnpike Cruiser, but Chrysler had Highway HiFi. Music at 16 2/3 rpm means more tunes per tank of gas. And when you park that 300C on a hill, get out the Mopar wedgie and laugh at your friends trying to put their cars in Park. Chrysler engineering can’t be beat!
