What a beautiful truck! That 1957 Chevy 3100 step side pickup truck is in pristine condition. The engine bay is immaculate with its Thriftmaster 6-cylinder engine that sounds smooth and healthy. I love the way it sounds whenever he'd wind it out through the gears with that sweet sounding moan of that 3-speed Saginaw transmission! You may call it "My Car Story", but a pickup truck every so often is a true delight to see. You need to feature more of them! Good job Lou!

Beautiful example. So many attractive details. These "eyebrowed" Chevy and GMC trucks are my favorite pick-up models.

When I was 10yo, my family drove down to a suburb of Oakland, Cal. to visit my dad's brother--an uncle we rarely would see, as we lived in Seattle. My uncle Jim was a self-made, almost millionaire, and he had just bought a 57 Chev truck, nearly identical to this one. My uncle was so proud of his new truck, that he even wanted to impress me! We cruised down a local 4 lane highway, and he floored that truck, for a few seconds--It was, just like this truck, quite noisy, but also very quick! We got up to around 90mph...I never forgot that experience!

I'm not much of a truck guy, but this was a great video. I've been in a few old trucks in my day, and most of those rides were not memorable. In those days, these were working trucks. They had dings and dents and rode so dog-gone rough. I remember feeling every single bump and dip in the road. Even bounched my head once to the top of the trucks. It was a 1960 Ford, I believe. It's so nice to see one in such great condition, that sounds good and that you probably don't have to worry about getting from point A to point B. In The ones I've been in, it seemed iffy if we were ever going to make it to our destination. I've never, ever driven a truck. I've driven a 1967 Ford Ranchero, but never a truck. Imagine that! You can actually see the ground under the hood! I had a '61 Chevy in college in the seventies with this engine and it was such a dream to maintain with all that room. A friend had a '58 Apache and it was cool riding so high up with that step up inside the door.

Absolutely beautiful truck...love that side mounted spare. But the real star here is the engine...the famous "Stove bolt Six". The stove bolt is an engineering masterpiece. The roots of this engine go all the way back to 1929...they got it right from the beginning, and it just got better with time. Smooth, quiet, torque to spare and reliable as the sunrise...a hundred years from now, the stove bolts will still be running!

Back when they made truly stylish pickup trucks, just sweet.

My favorite Pick Up Trucks were from the 50's & 60's. Such personality. The 3 on a Tree was great too. So easy to shift. I was taught to use two fingers. If you could easily use two fingers then the transmission was In Sync.

Cars from the 50s-60s were so damn cool.

Amazing truck. Love the color combination of white and red. The interior is surprisingly luxurious for the 50's. I was amazed there was color carpeting (at best I would have thought it would have been black or at worst rubber). Truly a time capsule of beauty!

That 57 is beautiful , had one that is a great rear window, escape the sun.

Like many of the rest, nothing wrong with a truck! 1957 - a great year for America and American cars (imho). When I was in drivers ed (1969), may of the simulators had the shifter on the wheel. I think I just aged myself. LOL! Keep up the great work Lou!

Thanks for showing this beauty, 50's trucks are something else. And I'm really glad it's a '57 Chevy truck because I have a '56 Chevy truck I'm restoring to original and there are almost no videos of a truly stock 55-59 Chevy truck on KZfaq, so this is a treat, and good motivation.

I had one of those with the 265 V-8 and wrap around rear window. There is very little room in the cab because the gas tank is behind the seat. Chevy did not do a very good job on the construction of the doors. They were a poor fit and always leaked air, making it noisy even when the windows were closed. But it was a good old truck.

I love it , same age as me & ill assure you in better shape. Love the way he kept it mostly factory w/ a splash of red & some hubcaps that look like they're off a 57Impala!

Years ago my uncle told me that type of hood came on the 56 model Years I know that's same kind I used to have mine was a gmc it came with the grany 4 speed in it wow it was a powerful 6 cylinder in it I remember I pulled a hay wagon with it

55-56-57 Chevy trucks look similar

Chevy was making the best trucks in the Universe then and now. For some reason, Ford overtook them in the late seventies with the F150. But the Silverado is every bit as good as the F150, and the 2500 super duty Chevy double wheel is probably the best heavy duty on the road, and the GMC Sierra is right up there with the 1500 and the 2500.
