My favorite bond film of them all. I watch this movie every Christmas season. I was born in 1964. My family lived in Corona, queens NY. Louis Armstrong and his wife lived about 5 blocks away from us. My father told me Mr Armstrong was good man. He used to play with the neighborhood kids and have little barbecue's for them when he wasn't traveling or on tour.

George Lazenby is the most underrated Bond ever. He was perfect for the role. He had the look, suave and sophistication. Together with Diana Rigg, they were brilliant. On Her Majesty‘s Secret Service is a bonafide masterpiece. Upon reflection, even Timothy Dalton has got something going as Bond. I think these films have aged incredibly well. @kkennedy34662 жыл бұрын
Moore and Connery would've hated it like I did. The killing off of the character is not something they likely would've been amused with. In my view NTTD ranks down there with TMWTGG as among the WORST of the franchise. The fact they use music and even a plot device from OHMSS tells you which is the best Bond film of all time and it isn't Craig's last outing.
@stephenfreyseng17482 жыл бұрын
@@kkennedy3466 I agree they may not have liked the fate at the end, but Roger Moore did say after seeing Craig in Skyfall that he was the best Bond. @@stephenfreyseng1748 Craig may have been the closest to Lazenby hence the comparisons to OMHSS but I still found he has much less charisma than any Bond from before. @@kosice1234 Love and respect are not enough for Lazenby and the film. Director Peter Hunt did a great job, but the film is more like a romantic movie and ignored that Bond and Blofeld met in the previous film. Lazenby's Bond, relatively young, vulnerable and infinite, has some similarities with Bond in ''Casino Royale'' without the final scene. In this scene we see the character of Bond who had to play in O.H.M.S.S. A mature man with experience, like the actors in the other roles. Until the early 70s Connery is Bond for everyone. Anyone who gives a "thumbs down" review to Louis Armstrong's superb song "We Have All The Time In The World" must hate music! Sadly Armstrong didn't have all the time in the world after he recorded this magnificent song because he died just weeks or months after he recorded it. He got out of his sick bed to record it. He was too sick to fly to England to record it , so he sang it in a NY recording studio. I think I read somewhere that Phil Ramone produced the recording. Armstrong was so weak from his illness that he could not even play his trumpet on the recording, so they used a studio musician to play the trumpet solo part of the song. After the recording Armstrong supposedly told John Barry, "Thanks for this gig man". Sadly It was the last song Louis Armstrong ever recorded.

Your right, and somewhat about Specter producing I do not think that it was mention in the James Bond Book about the music - Yes John Barry did the music, and it was Herb Alpert that play the horn, as Louis was sick to play the solo trumpet, so they asked Alpert to play the solo piece, But Specter No, he is too busy in Prison...
@michaelbarlow66103 жыл бұрын
@ Alex Carrillo. I had not heard before or read anywhere that it was Herb Alpert that played the trumpet solo on the song, "We Have All The Time In The World" from "OHMSS". Since the trumpet solo is a simple solo to play for any accomplished trumpeter, you would think that they could simply have hired any competent studio musician trumpeter to play it. John Barry liked to work with the same group of musicians to play the musical instruments on the Bond film music score recordings. But since Phil Specter produced the song that Louis Armstrong sang for that movie in NYC, it could be that Specter asked Herb Alpert to play the trumpet solo on the song.
@danielgregory32953 жыл бұрын
Did he do any of the trumpet work as well?
@michaelbarlow66103 жыл бұрын
@@danielgregory3295 . Louis Armstrong was unfortunately too weak from his cancer to play his trumpet on the song, "We Have All The Time In The World" for the James Bond film, "OHMSS". John Barry said that Armstrong got out of his sickbed to record that song. Armstrong did a fantastic job singing that song in his severely weakened condition. You can hear on the recording just how much of a strain it was on Armstrong to sing because he constantly hisses the word "us" in the song, such as in the lyric, ''Every step of the way will find us....with the cares of the world far behind us...yes". Even when he sang the word "way" in that lyric, you can clearly hear how hard it was for him to vocally extend out that word!

Farewell Diana... thank you so much for the memories, now you truly do have *all the time in the world.*

I first heard this song on the radio in the UK when I was a boy in the 70's. it was on one of the radio station's play lists for a short while. Thank God for You tube because I found it straight away after having not heard the song for decades ( I am currently in my 56th year) its funny how this song in particular resurfaced in my mind at the passing of my dad in March of 2010. It overwhelms me with tears every time I hear it. The irony of the title is that "all the time in the world" ran out before I got a chance to get close to my dad. Our relationship had always been distant. I'm a professional musician. I sang this song at Cornelius Osbourne's funeral.

Then you will appreciate Steve Coogan’s Desert Island Discs episode on Radio 4. Download the podcast, this track is one of his 7 all time favourites. Great description too of the beauty of John Barry’s cinematic work. I had not heard it eat her until I heard that interview and I’ve never forgotten it since.

Farewell bond girl... I spend beautifully moments with this movie. And with this melody with words that means in our life's everything... Time to time i play this just for remembering that love can exist when someone can't see her . Because his love was true...Goodbye

One thing was missing here, should have shown some of the graveyard scene at beginning of For Your Eyes Only at the end as Bond cries as if he's remembering and no doubt was at Tracy's grave. Even after close to 15 years after her death loved her still.
