Kinda disagree when it comes to hurricane. My forehand loops improved immediately But of course it isn’t for everyone. Blocking for example isn’t good at all

@@CMCMTTTV G-1 on 5-ply wood is not that fast, so you should just stick with it and train, especially if you're already 1700.

Hello, thanks for the video. Can you please suggest what rubbers (45-47 deg) works well on Butterfly ovtcharov Innerforce ALC? I currently play with Viscaria and Nittaku G-1 on forehand and C-1 on backhand. My Viscaria feels a bit more head heavy, and lack of control. Planning to switch to Innerfoce ALC. I tried Dignics 80, and liked it on backhand, but don’t want to spend that much. Appreciate your suggestion.

I watched this video a couple months ago and took your advice. I'm an intermediate player - roughly around 1500-1600 rating. I switched from hard, fast tensors to XIOM Vega Pro on my forehand and XIOM Vega Europe DF on my backhand. I also switched from using a carbon blade to an all-wood 5 ply blade. Best decision ever. My shot quality and consistency has gone up a ton and I'm just enjoying training and playing way more now. I feel like I'm finally able to really develop my swing and not have to gimp my stroke so much due to overly fast and unforgiving rubbers. Good advice, homie. Thanks

On Table Tennis Forums, a lot of the players who know what is what have pretty much been consistent with what Louie is saying. Middle of the road equipment while developing give a good chance to develop under effective coaching. The most expensive rubbers are not middle of the road of softness, speed, spin, feel. Matching the softness of firmness of a rubber to what you do is important - not a bad idea to go middle firm or soft rather than hard sponge early on.

Hey man on your forehand top spin you could become more consistent and add spin if you rotate with the core and hips and lessen the shoulder movement for better consistency aswell as better power and spin. This technically change will also lessen stress on you shoulder and elbow

I love to spin the ball a lot with my forehand and my backhand is not so good. I'm just changed to Skyline T.G 3 on my forehand and Rasanter R37 on my backhand. What do you think of this setup?

I would recommend you to have a closer look at the Victas VJ 07 rubber series (Victas labels its as "Challenge"). The variant called Regular has a very good amount of control, while the further three variants (Limber, Stiff, Sticky Extra) play very differently (and not only because the different hardness levels of sponges used), and helps to learn different aspects of the game. Even if they are not really cheap , they worth every coin spent. For an entry level player, I would definitely recommend Regular, because of the very linear power characteristics, and modest catapult effect. Limber is very good for pushing and blocking (but it is harder to use as a looping rubber), Stiff is very good for looping in general (except maybe power looping, where I feel it starting to bottom out, thus producing more erratic trajectories - but for brush looping, it is a dream), and I started to use Sticky Extra recently, which is an excellent power looper rubber, and has low and spinny arcs, but needs definitely more physical effort to play it aggressively.

Hi there, just saw this video. Very good video. I'm an intermediate player and I use butterfly Korbel off and tenergy 80 on both sides and find there's not enough spin on the rubbers as I'm a very spinny player who likes to play with a lot of topspin and also find the rubber is too quick for my liking, so looking for another rubber preferably a very spinney rubber with good control on

Great video! I am trying to figure on a fh/bh rubber combo for a 1300 level offensive player. I play allround, loop, smash, drive, etc... I currently use DNA Platinum M 2.1 on fh and Platinum S 2.1 on bh. Should I switch to something with more control? Thanks!

I play with a boll all round with tackifire drive on both sides. It’s been working well for me, but I haven’t been able to really test it outside of practice yet.

Great unbiased advice. I'm a beginning player with experience playing many other racket sports. I'm now trying to bend my head around proper table tennis technique as the stroke is different from all the other racket sports I've played. I agree with your advice on rubbers, but would like some direction concerning what a good beginner blade should be to accompany these softer rubbers. I've just ordered the Rozena rubber and would like to know what a good blade combination should be. Also, what is the relative importance of the blade vs the rubber in terms of how the paddle should perform.

I totally subscribed to this philosophy. I tried dignics a while ago, and found it incredibly weird feeling and way too bouncy. But, I recently tried tenergy 05 for the first time (on a wood blade). It felt unexpectedly nice. I was able to do very short serves still and play short game. So now I'm confused. One possible explanation was that it was an old, well-used tenergy...

Hey there, great video! I’m a 1444 rated player (best win again 1725 in a USATT tournament) and have always used expensive rubbers like Tenergy or Dignics (Needed to get that out of my system) but want to slighty tone things down for consistency/ control reasons. I believe I am approaching an intermediate level and want rubbers that will help me to easier implement form and technique into my game w/out sacrificing too much of my current style. I play a very unorthodox/ un-coached style mid-far from the table; lobber, blocker, decent looper, trick shots, attacks and counterattacks (Lol - like a 1444 version of Adam Bobrow). I was thinking of ordering Vega pro (Max) on forehand and Vega Europe (Max) on backhand. Excited to hear your input, thanks!

I have a question about tacky rubbers like rakza z and donic bluegrip. I heard that these rubbers is slower in terms of speed but makes up for it in the control department. As someone who is a beginner and using bluefire M1, is it a rubber that is worth changing into? Also how long will the tackiness last? Do i have to change it often?

hey i am about able to play third ball attacks consistently i use the xiom azx i tend to loop and smash or loop rally. i block alot and i am an offensive style. Using h3 neo provincial and xiom omega 5 euro. do not really have problems with the current set up just wanted to see what you would say

Hi, I’m Alexis from Philippines, I just wanna ask what is the best rubber for me, I'm a semi pro player, I play tournaments a lot and I'm still struggling to find the best rubber for my playing style, I'm an all-round close to midrange player, I've noticed that when looping, it feels a bit slow and also sometimes the ball go under the net, I think it's because of my set up. I started using a Dawei 2008 when I was a beginner both fh and by, after that when I get a bit good I already use Dhs Hurricane rubbers, 3 neo on both sides for about 3 years until now, I use All wood blade which is 7 ply, I tried a lots of blades and I think that 7 ply blade is the sweet spot for me. I'm trying to attempt other rubbers because I wanna speed up my plays, like fast medium arc shots but not that TOO FAST, but a bit of Control on the ball, my current set up now is a Yinhe Jupiter 2 FH and Milky way BH, it is way cheaper than other rubbers, I'm using this setup for about 6 months and it's a bit good feeling on the ball but I still find that it's lacking in speed and control, This is why I wanna ask you some suggestions and give some advice which is the best rubbers for me, I'm currently eyeing on DONIC AND XIOM RUBBERS now, Hope you can help, and Thank You in advance❤️

The Europe DF is a very good rubber for all „normal“ players

@@fredfeuerstein9023 Unfortunately, I found the DF has worse durability than the regular Vega Europe. Topsheet lost its grip after only 20 hours of play.

@@Waingro808 Maybe you could try the rakza 7 soft? It is said to have excellent durability (80-100 hours of playtime) and is only slightly more expensive (I think about 10$ per rubber more)

@@spacejesus1266 I'm using Fastarc C-1 and G-1 now. They are insanely durable; the topsheet shows almost zero abrasion after nearly 3 months. Probably only Dignics lasts longer.

Just built an entry level setup on a Gewo Zoom Balance All+ and the Proton 325 and 450. Still feeling it out, but for $90 usd all together, I like it. It's a little harder to attack on the backhand since I run the softer rubber backhand. I block and chop on the backhand. It doesn't hit with a ton of loop, generally lower and flatter. Definitely a huge jump over the pre made paddles at the sporting goods store though.

Hi, im hoping for a answer.. im about 1300 and Playing a Joola Xylo5 Blade and FH+BH Joola Energy, I want to switch my rubbers.. i play really aggressiv but i feel that my currently rubbers are blocking my Skills. Im thinking about to buy rhyzm P rubbers. Im Looking for a more flexible topsheet for my BH and a more Stiff one for my FH. Should i put Rhyzm P on my BH and Maybe a Rhyzer 45 on my FH? What rubber should I use? I’m not American an so I don’t have a rating. I’ve played tennis all my life and have a decent rating in that. About a year ago I switched to table tennis, and now I need to change my rubbers. I have quite an offensive play style with a big forehand. And my current bat is a stiga all round classic with kokutaku 868 rubber. What would you reccomend?

Very good and informative video! Could you give me some advice on my new rubber? I am intermediate player playing with mizuno 5 ply all wood blade with non-speed glue sriver on both sides. My playing style is blocking with some looping. My main reason that I want to upgrade is I feel lack of power even I tried hardest.

First time I tried Tenergy 05, I thought it was the best rubber ever. Got too dependent on it and had a hard time replacing it. I feel it was too expensive and loses it's qualities too quickly, so I had to replace too often. Finally, I was able to try Donic Barracuda and was a great alternative, actually, was a better rubber for me. Had higher throw arc and better spin, I've been using it for a year now and it's been great.

Hello Looee. Really glad to find your channel as the TT content appears unbiased and therefore particularly useful compared with some others. Can you do something similar on blades please? Obviously just discussing rubbers is not the whole issue as T05 hard on a carbon blade is a different to being on a slow defensive blade. I am particularly interested in your thoughts on the comparison between a carbon blade such as Butterfly Innerforce Layer ALC and the TSP 6.5mm balsa Off blade. They appear to have fairly similar stats but what is the real difference in control/feel between them. The blurb suggests that the balsa blades are ideal in that they exhibit very high control on soft shots with speed when necessary on the more aggressive shots. Are they therefore better in this respect than the suggested carbon blade? Keep up the good work. Many thanks.

I am more of a recreational/Intermediate player and have been playing for a long time, so far I have been playing with prebuilt racquets. I want to upgrade to a custom racquet now. I am looking for a blade which last me long, so that I can upgrade in the future with a better rubber. Let me know what blade/rubber combination should I look into. Thanks in advance.

Hey great advice! Im using viscaria with rozena (both bh and fh) and feel its too fast, and I'm thinking of getting an all wood blade with some xiom rubbers I play attack first style, like to bh flick, lift backspin Can you please recommend me which one should i use with an all wood blade? Thought about the vega europe, but I worry it'll be too soft with an all wood blade. In terms of blade I thought about the Yasaka Sweden extra, if you have a recommendation for a blade as well I'll highly appreciate it. Thanks!!

Butterfly Korbel with Rozena on both sides will work well if you want to develop a topspin game. I have the Yasaka Sweden Extra and it is also a great option, but it's one notch slower than Korbel.

It depends on the type of blade you are using as well. If you have a flexible blade with hard outer layer, the blade will hold on to the ball better when the rubber is hard because it will flex the blade when you hit it harder. Soft rubbers will bottom out with this type of blade and you will not be able to develop your stroke because you dont get any spin at higher speeds. Thats why tacky rubbers work well with blades like this. They are hard to maintain speed on the tacky surface. What level of rubber would you suppose is the right one for me judging from the videos on my channel? Honestly, I am considering buying a super slow setup with donic appelgren senso v2 with DHS H3 Neo because its so cheap and it gives you tons of control ... and I am a athletic guy allready, so theres no issue of muscle power.

Do you think this ok? I know you can’t tell my level from this comment, but I’m definitely not a high level player - certainly intermediate but with solid pro training. Using Xiom Vega X forehand, Butterfly Tackiness Chop backhand, on Donic Waldner Dotec allarounf blade. Thanks, love your videos!

Hello, this is such a realistic video. I play tenis table but I never had a trainer. I consider myself a pretty good player but never tested myself with a professional or with someone with proper technics, so it’s hard to rate myself. I’m trying to build my own blade and I’m planning to get the butterfly Primorac 5 wood and also thinking about putting DHS Hurricane 3 rubbers on it. How that sounds for a “beginner”?. Hey sorry for the late reply - those rubbers can be tough to use for a beginner because they're quite unforgiving but its not bad at all much better than anything you'd find at Walmart or dicks so I'd say go for it

Vega Tour is similar technology to Vega X with Vega X being slightly harder and Vega Tour being slightly softer. Vega X is the successor to Vega Pro and so they are the same hardness but with the Vega X having newer technology. Here are all the full differences: www.xiom.eu/vega

I’m out here desperately commenting on a 2 year old video because I’m trying to pick up as much knowledge on table tennis because where I live (Hawaii) only has one place to play, with lessons being 60/hr. I’m looking into playing as a modern defender style (bc it’s cool, bc it will give me good footwork, because it looks like good exercise, etc). I was looking at the Donic Defso blade (for budget) or the Koji Matsushita blade, but I wasn’t sure what rubbers were suitable for both counterlooping and chopping if the situation called for it. Backhand will probably be longpips, but would also take recommendations you have for BH rubbers too! Thanks for all the wonderful info on your channel, I subscribed as soon as I found out about you!

hi. i am a low intermediate player (USTT 1300). i prefer a offensive game and are moving increasingly into a faster looping game. i do occasionally block and chop. i love spinny rubbers with good control, but am looking for a bit more speed than my current setup. My current setup is: Nittaku Acoustic blade with Aurus Sound 1.9mm rubbers. I absolutely love the control and feel of this setup...but i feel that when i hit it as hard as i can, i get only so-so speed. Would love a bit more power from this setup, or perhaps a different setup. I was contemplating a Butterfly Ovtcharov Innerforce ALC with a Dignics 05 1.9mm rubber, but am cautious to not get into too much power for my level. Can you please make me a recommendation?

It is a nice video. It woud great if you could make a video on choosing rubber on the basis of their fundamental features used by manufacturers for selling, say spin, speed, control parameters. It will be great if you also cover the difference between forehand and back hand rubber. Rubber and ply combination.

I am entering the intermediate territory and just became an offensive player from an entertaining allround player a month ago. I am able to play well with mark v on forehand and donic sonex jp gold( medium hard rubber,45 degree) on my backhand. The medium hard rubber works really well for me on my backhand but my mark v is starting to feel a bit slow for me. Should I stick to it or get something like the andro rasanter r42,hexer powersponge,stiga DNA pro soft or hurricane 3 neo?

Mark V uses quite old technology. I'd definitely stay away from H3, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to try a more modern tensor rubber like DNA, Rasanter, etc.

I would like to know your opinion about the BTY Sriver, I know it is an old and outdated rubber, but it seems to me to be of excellent quality and durability, as well as being very easy to play. Do you believe that for a low intermediate player, it would be a good option?

sriver is great for a complete beginner or someone that has been playing for a year or so. also, if you don't play on a regular basis sriver can give you control and a nice sound. if you're looking to advance pas that point, however, it may be lacking in terms of how fast you can hit the ball and the amount of spin your shots can achieve.

Just wanna ask for advice yall. I'm a junior with a ranking of 30 smth in Hong Kong u13. Currently using Butterfly Harimoto Innerforce ZLC. FH: D09c BH: T05H. Looking to change D09c to something with the same speed but faster and T05H with something less springy and like softer. My budget is pretty high aswell.

hello Looeeloooee, I started watching you little time ago, but Im already a fan, Im 13 and I practice since I was 10, I play offensive, close to the table, currently I use Omega VII Euro on both sides of my racket and I want something as spinny, but faster. Do you think I should use a chinese rubber on my forehand? (Im from Brazil) (I dont have money for rubbers like Tenergy, here in Brazil they cost the equivalent of 100 dollars or more, I need somethinga that costs around 50 dollars)

If you want the same level as spin you were getting with the O7 Euro but more speed you could try something like O7 Pro which is the next level harder so it will be faster. It uses the same topsheet as the Euro so you'll be able to generate similar levels of spin with additional speed. In order slowest to fastest: Euro, Pro, Asia, Tour, Hyper. I don't like Chinese rubbers because they require such a specific technique and lots of power on every shot, so if you want to go tacky then try a hybrid tensor rubber instead.

trying to get back into table tennis and looking for a new set of rubbers coming from timo boll spirit + 2x tibhar genius max was thinking about the g1 cause i wanted a less bouncy spin insensitive rubber to prevent easy mistakes (i can deal with both but i dont enjoy the inconsistency), with good speed and spin, that rewards full swings. want to really improve my serves and short game to set myself up for the attack and then win the point close to the table or with mid distance loops. my only concerns are: a) blocking (heard its not that great for passive blocks but im more of an active blocker anyway so that should be fine?) b) flicks (heard its pretty hard to flick with g1 especially on bh) would u recommend the g1 or do u think another rubber suits my needs more? sry for the long question but the g1 has very little reviews outside of asia so its hard to really get a good picture of it...

Sorry for late reply! I think you should be ok with the G1. It will be initially harder to flick with the rubber but once you practice with it enough you will find the feeling for it and its definitely doable. As for blocking its the same thing, initially it may be a little more difficult but once you're used to it you will be fine and know the feeling, and since you're more of an active blocker that's even better!

Hey! Glad you enjoyed! I've played casually since I was very young as my dad was a semi-professional player, but I started training properly in January of 2015 and I've been improving ever since. I recently reached my highest rating of 2333 December of last year but now I'm slightly below 2200. My rating's quite erratic going up and down like this a lot but overall up. I am currently using the Joola Energon Super PBO-c blade with red Dynaryz AGR on the forehand and black Dynaryz AGR on the backhand. 2 layers of boost for fh and 1 layer on bh. I just switched to this about a month ago and before that I was using the Joola Nobilis PBO-c with Rhyzer Pro 50 on both sides.

i once used yinhe mercury 2 when i was just started learning with my uncle but when i got a coach(who is also a ping pong shop owner) looked at my racket and said :"this is shit rubber how about you come to my shop and buy rubber from my store" and when i came he proceeds to take off my cheap but quiet new rubber and replace them with a stiga boost ts and tc and to this day i still use them but now im thinking of switching back to yinhe and buying their cheap but quality stuff also please do a review on cheap 5$ rubbers

using tibhar stratus power wood and donic sonex jp gold on both sides for 2 years and don't need any change. just need change for the black jp gold because it is dead. i am upgrading to 999super because it is tacky and my strokes of looping and topspin are really good.

I’m new in the sport I have been playing for one and a half year. I have to blades to play with. Butterfly ovtcharov and Tibhar stratus power wood. I don’t know if the ovtcharov is too fast for me atm and I should go back to the Tibhar. I play with a 729 Battle 2 in the FH and a Joola Ryzhen 43 ( in the Ovtcharov). I’m planning to start using more like a beginner rubber like a XIOM Vega intro in the FH and a XIOM Vega Europe in the BH to develop my technique. What do you think?

Soft rubbers are easy to play, while hard ones like h3, i play h3, build tecnique and confidence. But a good rubber like t05 and h3, will give you a stable throw angle without unpleasant surprises. For example these two will produce the same arc, speed and spin on the ball with the same hit. Lower end rubbers tend to be inconsistant preventing development. Especially beginers should start with slow medium hardness rubbers like the dawei 2008 xp, that are medium hardness, spinny and responsive, to build touch and feeling, and slow. They are also very consistant and dawei overall is a well known company. Another would be the bty shriver. More expensive doesn't mean better rubbers, most times, it means more consistant and predictable, but most times it comes with ridiculus speed, like the tenergy series...

Hey bud, I know I'm pretty late but I'd like your recommendations. I'm not sure what rating I am, never knew there were ratings. I'm just buying my first table, I've always played recreational, whenever I've found a table. I know how to spin the ball, and I've got decent control. I rarely only ever hit the ball over the table or net, typically only when it's awkward. I like to put the ball short with a lot of backspin or making my opponent run from side to side. I'd still say I'm a beginner, but I am interested in a fast / grippy rubber. I've bought a blade from zeropong, just need rubbers. Would you recommend sriver or sriver fx?

Sriver was made in around 1967. It is now outdated and doesn't work well on the new ball.

Idk i can only talk about my personal experiences. I did opt for a pretty high quality rubber as well as bade (both chinese/asian of origin) and I honestly can‘t complain. I would describe myself as an intermediate - average TT player but i started loving the new rubbers surprisingly quick. Especially when ralleys get incredibly fast i can really appreciate the high quality rubber when blocking an all-out topspin shot. Also i feel like it really enhances my overall spin and attack flicks even though my technique is decent at best compared to higher level players. Make of it what you will, however i do advise you to play for a while before opting towards a substantial upgrade of your TT gear!

Same here. Got about 6 months of constant play and got a hurricane 5 long paddle with tenergy 05 on red and dignics 09 black side and boy I love them. I’ve tried paddled with rubbers in the 60-100 dollar range and they were fine but no where near the good stuff

I'm fully agree with you. Same things happens with hard fiber based blades such a Viscaria. I cant understand why that blade is so popular among amateurs. In fact, t's one of the worst blades for amateurs because of the hard feeling and overall poor control compared to allwood

my problem is that my first (and current) blade is a 9 ply offensive carbon with Copp x3 and x2 rubber which is outrageous choice for a first bat. I am beginner-intermediate now. I play the game properly as ive done 50 hours of coaching on and off over 3 years. But Now i want to go back to a simpler bat and rubber and reexplore the game. What you think of One of the stiga classic blades and Mark V rubbers? I feel like i didnt get a chance to explore my style because the whole time ive been busy suffering trying to keep the ball on the table with my ultra offensive carbon blade, till today, i stuggle to keep the ball on the table, but i realize its because of my setup i believe

Mark V rubbers are awesome! U will love it! I’m amateur and bought mark v years ago and it completely changed my game up to the point that I almost instantly started beating everyone. Solid buy. But tenergy 05 are by far best in my opinion!

For intermediate level rubbers can't go wrong with something from Xiom's Vega line. My two favorites are Vega X and Vega Tour. For blade it is a matter of what your playing style is. For example, whether you want to play close to the table, or far from the table - and whether or not you want to play outright aggressive or more passive.

Go with Vega Asia DF. It's slightly higher than that price in the mid $30 range but it's a medium-soft bh rubber that offers a lot of spin and a very good amount of control. If you wanted to go a little cheaper you could go with Mark V. Vega Asia DF, however, is using technology designed for the plastic ball which means that it has adequate acceleration when compared to older technologies like Mark V.

What is your opinion on Dignics 09c, you mention that hard and springy rubbers often catapult the ball off far too fast making touch shots difficult, but from what I’ve heard dignics 09c is very slow in the short game, and has a lot of dwell time so it’s pretty good for the touch shots like service, service return, pushing and more. It tends to be slower than tenergy 05 providing the ability to create a higher quality shot in terms of spin when looping against backspin and for counter topspins. I’m wondering if a player maybe 1500-1800 that attacks close to the table and looks for spin and control could benefit from this rubber?

Yes dignics09C is underrated ruber.Has a great touch,good spin and still a good speed when you accelarate the ball enough.And its very good on counter spins.Very good against heavy topsins.Better then tenergy05 for me.

I'm an intermediate player who uses Viscaria ALC with Dignics 05 backhand, and Hurricane 3 on forehand. Biggest thing I've found is you cannot swing as hard as you would like in all strokes if you want ball on the table. That goes not only for power loops, but flicks as well. You also need to read incoming spin well. Example, if ball coming in has no spin, then you will need to flat hit it for power shot, or adjust bat angle for chop. These rubbers are very fast, but also very spinny. I recommend for beginners to use this setup as well, because they will learn much faster what their positional play and hitting techniques must be to play a more powerful, spinny, hard to beat game. Just my two cents.

I play the same backhand rubber since 2008 (Tenergy 05) and they increased the price by 50%. They are not more expensive to manufacture. Butterfly is just increasing their prices, because there's no other company that is able to produce rubbers as good as them. I tried Xiom, Tibhar, Andro, Joola rubbers... Nothing came even close to Tenergy or now Dignics 09c. I get what you wanna say with this video and I totally agree that most players should rather work on their game instead of wasting money on overpriced rubbers. And even though I play D09c and T05 I think they are indeed overpriced. They last a long time though. My Xiom rubbers were tearing after 4 weeks. Tibhar MX-S is dead after 6 weeks. My T05 lasts 4 months, so even though it's way more expensive I still save money and time by playing these expensive rubbers. And you can always go down in sponge thickness. Most rubbers of the Tenergy series are available in 1.7 mm sponge thickness. So any player can use these rubbers and have great success with them. So I'm not sure if I can agree on that with you. Especially as a low ranked player, you might as well take any help you can get and if you get that 50 rpm more spin with these Tenergys it might even be worth it.

It’s not the best for building technique because of its unforgiving nature. Learning the very basics, such as driving and pushing, would be fine with Hurricane, but looping is a different story. To use Hurricane effectively, a player would have to be able to accelerate very well, which is something that takes a long time to grasp. This encourages bad habits, such as swinging too erratically and/or flat hitting too much. As someone who started with H3 and changed later, I suggest for you to just use your Hurricane as-is (or boosted, if you can) but change to one of Louis’ suggested rubbers when the rubber dies.

For me Butterfly is an unpleasant brand, their products are too much expensive. I play with 2 blade Dhs and Xiom rubbers...I’m very happy.

Hi!!!! I've been playing since 2009's and still actively playing. In the few years I've represented regions back in the Philippines and in England (currently) and now am a university student representing it. I think its safe to say that I'm experienced enough. My previous rubbers where a combination of a Rasanter and a Xiom vega asia DF with a balsa carbo blade and now want to add at least a butterfly rubber. I'm at a level where I have a pretty good technique but want to improve more. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you're at a level where you'll have the touch necessary to use spring sponge or spring sponge x. If you're looking for a forehand rubber from butterfly I'd go with Dignics 09c or Tenergy 05hard. If you're looking for a backhand rubber go with Dignics 05. If you want to go a little tamer you could try Rozena which is going to be more controlled, or something like Tenergy 05fx.

hurricane 3 and mark 5 are really in expensive. But little expensive would be German Rubbers. Even Cornilleau have Tensor Rubbers around $15.

I'm sure by now (being that you posted this 4 months ago) you already know if it was good for you or not. However, I will go on to say that the Resanter series is a very good choice for an array of players. You chose the two hardest options (from what I am aware of). So they will be more advanced, which is fine if you are advamced as well. I am not very familiar with the Yasaka blade, but if it is soft enough, it will allow a bit more control from those rubbers when attacking or when using heavier spins, but the touch shots won't be altered by the blade as much. I personally would recommend either the R37 or R42 for the advanced beginner or the intermediate player who utilizes high spin and control games well.
