The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Love it!!! Louie, Keely, Sam, and the boys were the best showmen of their day! My only complaint is we don’t have the entire appearance here. Please post all of it!

This isn't a comment about this particular segment, but a request to whoever selects and uploads the various Sullivan show segments to KZfaq: please, PLEASE at least consider uploading the paul revere & the raiders songs from their lone april, 1967 appearance, and ALSO the segment featuring honey Ltd. from March, 1969. Thanks.

the Raiders first appeared in October of 65 with drake on guitar. I have it on VHS tape. They do 2 songs LIVE

@@recordguy4321 You are correct about that & thanks for pointing it out. I still hope this channel uploads the 1967 appearance, because I'm quite partial to the songs they did on that particular episode.

@@jong0000 Valley had quit the band and been replaced by Fred Weller at the time of the group's April, 1967 appearance on the Sullivan show. He had, however, played on the original recordings of the songs performed during that appearance-though some people believe his parts (in the studio, NOT during the raiders' live appearances...valley definitely played guitar onstage during his relatively brief 66-67 tenure with the group) were done by various "Wrecking Crew" guys.

@@recordguy4321 Actually, I discovered you were mistaken. 😆 The only time paul revere and the raiders appeared on the Sullivan show was in April, 1967, as I said originally. I think you watched a tape of their appearance on either shindig, hullabaloo or Hollywood Palace.

Prima would try to make her laugh, and would sometimes succeed, and Louis Prima himself devised that bit. He was a real showman, and their Las Vegas act was one of the biggest acts of that era.
