Here are my thoughts on the Damier Pop Speedy from the SS24 collection vs the standard monogram Speedy.

That speedy is AMAZING! I love pre aged leather so much. I agree so much about the side strap on the classic mono. I really don't see the point... but thankfully I still enjoy it so much. Great vid 🥰

This was a great comparison! I just love a Speedy! I think you’re right about the reasoning behind the difference in canvases. I wouldn’t have thought if it but it makes perfect sense. These are both fabulous bags.

Since 2013/14, LV cheapened everything in the lower tier of bags such as the speedy. The thinner canvas is more prone to cracking, and the hardware corrodes over time. That’s why I favor vintage bags. I can see that your pop bag is seriously upgraded. Even the proportions of the hardware to the leather looks much better. And I’m happy to hear that you can feel the difference in the canvas. Also, I think that being from the men’s collection, they’re going to make things bigger and heavier. That’s my thought, even though I haven’t really had my hands on men’s pieces. For me, I wouldn’t go bigger than a 25 for a bag this shape hanging off my hip, lol.

That's what I thought. I bought the damier ebene 25 bandeliuer last month. It feels cheap and flimsy. They said thinner canvas is supposed to be more "pliable''. I compared it to my vintage monogram speedy and the vintage canvas feels thicker. I've checked online about damier ebene wear and tear. It seems that it cracks around the zipper alot and the bottom rubs off a lot as well. It's a damn shame Lv cut down on their quality. Ive owned some Dooney and Bourke bags that are made in China with thicker quality canvas that held up better.

Gene! Somehow I missed that you have a kitty. She's beautiful! 🥰 Also, I never thought Speedys were anything special until I fell in love with the By the Pool Speedy 25 in Brume, from a couple of years ago, and I bought one from Fashionphile last July. OMG, I so quickly fell in love with that style that now I have a leather Speedy 25, a leather Speedy 20, a Gucci mini Boston bag and TWO DressUpYourPurse leather mini Boston bags. All this in the last 9 months! Wow, I had not realized that. lol. In any case, I LOVE the Speedys so much. I really want to get one in Damier Azur and I'm with you, the 25 is the best size (Sorry Rakeedah! lol). Enjoy your gorgeous bags, Gene! 💕

This was so interesting seeing all the differences, just by seeing them we’d never have known. It has always seemed to me that bags marketed towards guys are better quality and seem to have thicker more durable materials. There was a video years ago where the dissected bags from Coach and the men’s bag leather was twice the thickness vs the women’s. To me the new one even looks more substantial than your og Speedy. I love that bag, I think it’s so Palm Springs!

Thank you. Yeah, and bags in the women's line are typically much more expensive. It doesn't make sense for the Speedy to be on men's or women's IMO. These brands need to do away with that and just have a bags section.

Yeah, I never lock my bags anyway, but I could see why someone might want to. If you do it's not going to be easy on this bag, but I love that there's a place to display the lock.

Hello! Great comparison. I just noticed the Damier blue has light Vachetta handles as opposed to brown like the regular Damier Ebene. I did the same thing last night. I went to a crowded restaurant and I wasn’t sure of the table size and if the chair had a square back to easily hang a bag on a strap. If the chair is rounded the bag ends up in my lap if there’s not an extra empty chair. Boy, what we go through just to pick a bag, lol. Oh nooooo! Not the same canvas 😮

Great comparison. It is interesting seeing the differences. I recommend the Clipa on the ‘zon. It is a bag hook that hooks onto to any table. Quite handy. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛

I love a non Bandouliere speedy but I agree the POP speedy has a better set up and if the regular speedyB’s were set up this way I’d be more into them! Also yes you’re correct the 25s are different depending on the material, which is crazy to me lol. My leather speedy is smaller in height too!; ever so slightly as well! Great comparison Gene!

Thank you. Yes, I cannot understand the non-bandouliere group. I don't know how you top handle girls do it. I can only do it with my Book Tote, because that beauty is worth the suffering a top handle only provides.

I didn't realize how much I prefer a one zipper to a double zipper until I got the Pharrell! UGH...Who prefers a thinner strap (insert eye roll) LOL

Eye roll yourself, LOL. Haha. They just don't sit well (thicker straps) when you don't crossbody, and I'm too fat to crossbody.

You love a big bag, don't you. Yeah, the 40 is in red and green. If the 40 was in blue I'd have been torn, but for me the 25 is the more sensible buy.

Thank you Gene for the in-depth review. How do you take care of the untreated leather on the regular monogram? Do you use any leather products, and how did the honey color patina come about? Do you worry about water stains and is it a high maitainence bag? Will you add more speedy to your collection? If you could only have one, which speedy would you go for?

The new speedy bando version is really beautiful to me in so many ways: 1. It has only one zipper with leather flap! 2. The strap is thicker. It makes more masculine. 3. It doesn’t have that vertical vachetta leather on both sides which Im not a fan of. 4. It has a luggage tag that made it more beautiful and masculine looking. 5. It comes with damier a lot bigger squares. I am for the color pops. But the only negative thing to me is that they dont make/produce a black and white damier version like the trio messenger canvas 😭😭😭😭 even black and gray monogram isn’t! If they produce one, I will buy rightaway!!!!!

Great comment. Yeah, I'm watitng for the right color in a Speedy 40. I took the luggage tag off it looks better w/o IMO.
