Oh, I love my Fruity Knitting Podcasts!!! I shared episode 58 with a young hopeful shepherdess today at the Idaho State Fair. Your programs are so special to all of us!!! Tutorials are just 'out of the park' as we say in the US. Andrew is my kind of knitter. We keep pace well.

Very nice podcast, as they all are! I feel for you with no air conditioning in the hot weather. I love the music you have on each episode and would love to hear some of Andrea's vocal recordings again, like you used to play in the early episodes. Such a beautiful voice!

Another lovely episode! How interesting, I was also taught to knit the first and last stitch on both sides to create a selvage edge when I was young. Since I never see that in patterns, I was starting to doubt my memory. I think I was just as delighted as you, Andrea, when I heard Louisa talk about it.

Before I knew any better, I always used backstitch and I still do. Most of my knitting I learnt on my own because there was no one to ask. It's nice to hear that I'm like Andrea not so wrong!

The cable tutorial was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!! very well illustrated....some good advice I received from my 83 year old knitter friend who is never without her needles and yarn; "oh go ahead and frog it, you love to knit don't you?. It will give you more knitting"

Awesome episode, what a delight to meet Louisa Harding. The view of Chatsworth House reminded me of one of my visits home and a side trip we took into Derbyshire. The home and grounds are wonderful, as is the surrounding area. It was also a delight to meet Anne Hanson. Thank you!

This has been my favorite episode so far. Granted I just found your podcast last week. We lived in Germany for several years and the minute I saw the high view from the castle to the river I thought “Oh my gosh That’s Heidelberg!!!!” Thank you so much for sharing that with us. It was my favorite city to visit within driving distance of Kaiserslautern. Also, such a wonderful interview and background on knitting style. This episode has given me much to contemplate.

I was told once by a teacher, you know you have learned what I am teaching when you can tell someone else. Andrew your explanation of the cardigan you are knitting says just that very thing. Andrea, you tutorial was a oh now I understand. What I learned from the interview would take too much time. Extreme knitting...Yes!!!

My husband was in Germany in the mid 60s for 2 years in the US Air Force. His description matches your video very well. I really enjoyed the interview with Louisa Harding! She has so much experience to teach and share! I enjoy watching yours and Andrew's WIPs with mistakes! Your videos are only one of two I will watch for more than 30 minutes! Those front and back decreases are interesting. I am anxious to see how that looks in the finished product. It puts me in mind of some period pieces I had to draft as a costumer. There is a period in the early 1800s when dresses became all one piece with no separate bodice where they connected the shoulders very low in the back instead of across the top of the shoulders. It changes the look and fit of the shoulders. Can't wait to see how your project looks when completed!

My gran taught me to slip first stitch and knit the last stitch.i think this way prevents a slack stitch on edge. X Angela

I loved the Sound of Music 🎼, my first trousers were vintage curtains and I had 4 girls and 2 boys and made their clothes . Happy times . I were nicknamed the Von Trapps locally . Now I’m learning knitting after 30 plus years break . Ps my name is Julie and my partners Andrew . 😉 As the children got older I had a business making children’s clothes .

Some how I hadn't finished viewing episode 58 because we were travelling and wham episode 59 was in my inbox... I loved the Heidelberg opening it has been one of my favourite places we have travelled, twice and we were given the privileged of actually walking in the castle and behind some amazing walls and hideyholes, and Scotland where we toured the highlands. I loved they femininity of Louisa's designs and shall be looking up her work. Thank you for pressing through the very uncomfortable conditions, it seems the whole world is under extreme heat right now our little Island in the waves is the hottest I have ever experienced it to be in our 42 yrs of marriage. But snow will soon fly I was reminded yesterday. So perhaps we should be thinking knit-worthy friends and family names for special gifts come the holidays and that may take our minds off of it being too hot to knit as suddenly it is December. One year I thought in July I shall make hand made Christmas gift tags special notes and designs for each given gift....Come December 23rd we were scrambling for any gift tags at all because as always creative ideas for me in the summer seem like a great plan for Christmas until the week of Christmas....then I and rushing madly about looking for the perfect gift seeing I was not obviously going to get their present completed.... Thanks again for a great episode.

Andrea, you've convinced me that seaming is better for sweaters but I still don't want to knit in pieces, which makes me wonder, would it be possible for you to do a tutorial on the basting stitch? I have read so much about building in a seam (in seamless sweaters) to seam up later when doing raglan shaping but I find it really hard to visualize or apply to actual sweater designs, would love to see your clear instructions and thoughts! By the way, I'm working on an all-over cable sweater and zipping along thanks to your cable without needles tutorials so thank you!

Andrew, trust the Carbeth cardigan pattern. I made one for my daughter who happens to have large upper arms, it fits beautifully. I made no modifications.

BUT ... so beautiful wool and knitting is, the subject of animal suffering and animal welfare here is paid too little attention. The topic is very important! The animals are often maltreated or not kept appropriate to the species. Please also discuss the shadow pages so that the animal suffering finds an end. We owe it to the animals. Only animal friendly produced wool is good wool. So that handicrafts really make everyone involved happy.
