Merci Mesdames et Messieurs de garder cet héritage qui vous vient de vos aïeux. Vos âmes sont belles. Vous faites partie de la belle histoire de France et cela pour toujours. En France métropolitaine, il y a différentes régions avec leurs particularités qui leurs sont propres et aussi leur patois qui est toujours parlé ... mais de moins en moins ! Le cajun et autres patois français parlés au Canada et aux États-Unis sont à préserver car ils sont originaires de la vieille France ... celle qui tend à disparaître de plus en plus depuis plus de cinquante ans. La France n'est plus digne de vous ! Un grand MERCI ! Lorsque j'ai écouté avec ravissement ces personnes je vous trouve admirables et mon coeur est ému ! Puisse le Bon Dieu vous protéger ! Deo Gratias P.S. : j'ai appris il y a peu que M. er Mme Hébert avait été rappelés à Dieu. Paix à leurs belles âmes.

C'est important de parler le français le plus souvent possible et de le lire aussi quand on demeure en Louisiane par exemple afin d'apprendre plus de mots et de garder ce qu'on connait. Le cadjin français est le français de la Louisiane et c'est important de pouvoir le lire sur les affiches partout en Acadiana autant chez Walmart que sur les panneaux routiers etc... J'encourage tout le monde en situation minoritaire de s'assurer que le français soit visible afin de s'y interesser d'avantages.

I hope French never dies in Louisiana! Amazing that Cajun French still survives after such a strong movement to replace with English.

I am a SoCal boy fascinated with Cajun culture, and boy would I love to learn Francais Cadienne from Audrey...what a glorious accent and voice and enunciation of her words she has...I'll bet those two sisters enjoy life, and are fun to hang out with.

vous êtes Français avant tout Québécois, Acadiens .. avec votre culture a part entière l’équivalent de nos chers régions, mais vos Ancêtres étais Français ils ont émigrée pour colonisé le nouveau monde, et vos accents, argots, patois ressemble beaucoup aux notre en province dans les campagnes défendez le Français et vive la France !! :)

Keep these languages alive in the USA 🇺🇸: all of them , e.g. French in Louisiana and Maine , all Native American languages like Onondaga in Upstate NY, Pennsylvania German , ASL, Gullah in SC, Spanish that has been spoken here for hundreds of years and all the rest ❤️, speaking 2 or more languages opens doors and good for the brain 🧠

We have in south Louisiana descendants of Spaniards from the Canary Islands of Spain and Andalusia, Spain and the ones from Canary Islander descent still carry a 244 year old Spanish based on 18th century Spanish from the Canary Islands of Spain. Je crois que j'ai rencontré Audrey ou Maudrey en févier 2005 lors d'un séjour en Louisianne. Nous avons été hébergé chez nos cousins Cajun et nous en gardons un très bon souvenir.

Ooooo les francophones au Canada nous sommes en état de survivance de la langue... mais làbas... Wow...Quelle force. Que les Cadiens, Acadien, Canadien-français ne perdent jamais leur origines et leur culture ! Que l'Amérique française persiste !

Her French seems to be heavily influenced by Parisian French actually. She says "maintenant" instead of "asteur," "presque" instead of "proche," "nous avons" instead of "(nous-autres) on a," and even uses a velar R as a Parisian would do. I'm a bit puzzled by it, actually. She probably is fun to hang out with, though.

Josh McNeill There was a steady stream of French immigration into Louisiana up into the early 20th century. Some Cajun and Creole families absorbed these immigrants and some families show this influence. Also, some areas near New Orleans had more contact with France for a long period through schooling (wealthy families would send their children to France to school).

Josh McNeill I forgot to add that the old French dialect of New Orleans used a gutteral R too. This sort of French was referred to by other Louisiana French speakers as "le bon français" as there were also more modernisms of the 19th century from France in the New Orleans dialect as many New Orleanians sent their children to schools in France to be educated in better schools which refreshed the New Orleans area dialects (including the areas surrounding New Orleans). After the civil war, many New Orleanians moved to Acadiana and brought "le bon français" with them. I can hear she sometimes slips and uses an alveolar R (flap and trill) as she pronounces some words as when she said poivron.

Il na déjà Plusieurs de ce genre qui existe déjà mais il en faudrait un plus imposant et Remarquer pour que nous puisions Profiter de la Vie une Grosse Semaine durent Ensembles jais envie de leur donner le gout a connaitre mieux la langue et de leur faire profiter Dun grand moment de la Langue Françaises et enfin retirer sais barrière entre nous et se dire on parle tous la même langue c'est notre moment a tous un jour je Vœux contribuer a réaliser un Projet comme sa Découvrir Chaque Culture =)

Cajun and Acadian French dialects are much easier to understand for French people than the "joual" dialect spoken in Montreal or other forms of Quebec dialect and accents. It's very similar to the French accents still heard today in the North West of France, from Normandy to Charente. And when you say "traditional" French you mean "academic". This form of French appeared after the Revolution, so a long time after the French settlers arrived in North America.

@troy92850 no difference. Poulet is chicken. Poule is hen. Same thing, in terms of eating the thing. Poulet would be a young bird whether male or female and Poule is specifically female. Incidentally, if you wanted to say rooster, it is coq. As in "Coq au Vin".

I don't speak french, but I was raise around it and know a little. When they are putting the chicken in the gumbo, they call it "poulet (poo-lay)". I've heard chicken also called "Poule (pool)". What's the difference?

Le poulet means young rooster or hen to be eaten . la poule is hen la poulette means young hen le coq is rooster or cock le poussin is chick . la volaille means poultry (from old french pouletrie) and le poulailler means chicken coop. volaille comes from verb voler (to fly)
