Louisville and Nashville 1593 Steam Train

In September 2019, an old workhorse was brought back to the limelight. No. 1593 is a 2-8-2 Mikado type engine that would've hauled freight for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad.
With the L&N Historical Society hosting their convention in Chattanooga, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum brought out 1593 for two special excursion trips; one to Chickamauga, GA for the convention, the other to Summerville, GA. On each of those days, 1593 performed admirably and became a quickly loved staple in rail preservation in the South.
We're just kidding. It's the 4501 with magnets, a bigger headlight and an L&N 3 chime.

I have a picture of her sister locomotive, 1591 hanging on the wall here in my living room. This is the kind of locomotive my great grandfather Joseph Chester Coker drove, hauling freight on the St. Louis division of the L & N.

4:12 interesting fact that L&N car is a diner car once used and owned by the Indiana transportation museum and has been used several times behind nickel plate road 587 before her removal from service at the end of 2002 and eventually the Tennessee valley railroad museum got it and it's quite a surprise I didn't realize this til I saw it in a DVD of 587 from the late 90s

The car was sold to TVRM after ITM being evicted from Noblesville. The debut of the L&N diner was what inspired turning 4501 into an L&N 2-8-2.

Evan's Megazord reviews L&N practice. When 610 was restored from USATC appearance a styled L&N look was chosen, hence the numbers on the glass.

It was a style L&N used. Historically, it was to help crews recognize what engine was coming at night hours. The 610 has it likely as a historical nod.

I've never seen this engine before or is this 4501 and some other paint scheme just curious did you guys just get this Mikado running 1593 what railroad is that from I don't think I've ever seen this 282 Mikado

Yes, it is the 4501. The 4501 was dressed as an L&N engine for the L&N convention on the TVRM.

I had to "read" between the lines too my friend. I've never heard of an operationable L&N "Mike", (especially with that, (or any other numbers). "Ya know what tipped me off? The whistle...it's consist, (with multi TVRM cars),...and surrounding buildings. All of which can be seen on the Steam to Summerville video with 4501 and 630. This video must be brand new. Does anybody have info. of the two GTW cars in its line-up? One's a diner, the other a coach? jimg2480@gmail.com, (since I probably won't return to this site after watching it). THX!

0899 is a Pullman Standard Built Diner-Buffet. It was owned by Bluewater Michigan NRHS and leased, although they recently decided to donate it to us (and 6604 the Seaboard Air Line Tavern-Lounge-Observation to NCTM, Spencer). It is the only Grand Trunk Car we have, being a reminder of the 1950s CNR/GTW travel in Canada. Inside it has peptobismal pink walls, pink chairs, and a VIA Rail era egg crate ceiling. The non-TVRM maroon fluted Staines coach is Southern Railway 829, built by Budd in 1949.

That's hilarious I knew it was 4501 I love steam locomotives I draw them and also have a photographic memory so that's how I knew that was 4501 The Bell the headlight the valve gear and that stretched out tender that they gave her gave her away thank you for confirming my suspicions she sure does look a little different and an L&N paint scheme it did throw me off there for a minute peace out into the world have a great day
