I can find fresh okra in some Turkish grocery stores here in Germany and they have a lot of great recipes but nothing beats the taste of home,Thank you for sharing this recipe for air fried okra,I will be whipping up some of this in the summer.

My Mom used to coat it in cornmeal and fried in a iron skillet with about an inch of grease. We like it crunchy and dark brown. Southern popcorn y’all!!

Miss Paula, when I was growing up my Granny and Pawpaw always called it (FRIED OKRIE ) instead of fried okra. When I started school I would hear other kids call it okra. I thought... why are they calling it okra ? HAHAHA....!! 😂😂😂 That's another southern thing right ? 😉😘 I love fried okra and it's so good with mashed potatoes and meatloaf !! That's so strange to me that not everyone knows what okra is or hasn't even eaten it before. But I'm glad people get a chance to try it.

Does anybody ever fry okra in a cast iron skillet anymore, with just a little bit of oil or bacon grease, like you'd make fried taters? That's how my granny made it, and how I make it still 😊💜

Paula, you might want to consider using non-aerosol spray because the propellant can damage the interior of your air fryer. I love fried okra, too!

I would love to get a air fryer Have never had Okra and I am 66 yrs old ..can you just cook it in the oven or does it have to be deep fried????

Fried okra is "the bomb" -- love it so much. Lots of spraying with the air fryer, but probably healthier in the long run. I have an air fryer, but am not too crazy about it. Maybe Paula's is the way to go cuz all of her cooking looks fabulous. Thanks for another good video to Paula, Eddie and Theresa!

This sounds delicious! I love fried okra and pickled okra. Not a great fan of the boiled (slimy) kind. Just curious....why do you chill it in the refrigerator for an hour? I am so glad to know I can cook it in my Paula Deen Air Fryer. I just ordered the accessories, so I can’t wait for them to get here!! I will be trying this! Thanks for sharing the recipe! And you do look gorgeous in red!

Miss Paula All of your dishes are Fantastic, I was raised on okra: Pan fried with taters, onions & bell peppers. Okra gumbo, boiled. One guy that I used to work with said that if you weren’t sitting down when eating boiled okra, it was so slimy that it would slide right on out the other end lol

I'm from Oklahoma and of course grew up on okra (fried, pickled, with tomatoes, anyway you do it). My husband is from Western New York. Never heard of it and didn't like it. We're retired military and every time we would come home to Oklahoma either my Aunt or my mom would fry up some okra because they knew I loved it. My husband would tell both of them that he didn't really like okra and they would both say "it doesn't matter I'm fixin' this for Mary Susan."

@@juddpalmer5445 yeah really!! plus all of those weird chemicals in those sprays id rather just use real oil only a bit and just mix them cause it can coat them easier... id just use a big cooking sheet and do it in the oven so much easier... btw i dont have a air fryer because our house is a bit bigger then a trailer home... so i have my microwave obove my stove, a sink and 1 other counter so i just have room for the coffee pot and the coffee canister we store it in... have a nice day :D

I really just don't like the idea of spraying food with a non stick spray. Why not invest in a bottle spritzer and fill it with a good quality oil meant for eating? I got my spritzer from QVC, but I'm sure Amazon must sell. I know that non stick spray is ok for consumption, but to be used to spray food is unappealing to me.

It's really not slimy when it's fried. If you've never had okra before then fried is the best way to try it. You'll know right away if you like it. 😋
