Paula you are brave wearing black when working with flour, lol. I'd have it all over me when I was done. It's been tradition for as long as I can remember that my grandmother would make these biscuits every Christmas eve for breakfast and all the family would come over with a breakfast dish in the morning. These were always the favorite and she made sure to only make it on Christmas eve so everyone would have to wait another year to have them again, lol. Bless her heart and yours.

I love sweet potatoes but i think if you use pumpkin puree ...the biscuits might turn out better because flour and sweet potato is tough combination

We get it on sifting via whisk. But c’mon, don’t be easy and lazy and let us see you use the good old fashioned sifter! 😁 Nah, the brushed melted butter shouldn’t just be “you,” Paula! It should be mandatory in the recipe! They do indeed look like scones. I like biscuits but despise scones. 😑 To me scones are “wannabe” sweet and indulgent but they’re disappointingly not!

The biscuits were suppose to be rectangles. She also thought the depth should have been an inch when it was half an inch. And she obviously hadn't even read the recipe in the beginning because she said they were real sweet potatoes instead of canned and did not know baking soda and powder were in it. And she was suppose to pulse the flour mixture not run it continuously as she added the flour. That is why she had a ball of dough before she even added the buttermilk and still had flour left over.

Nothing tough about a bisket baked 10 minutes; • ¾ cup canned sweet potatoes mashed • 4 tablespoon (½ stick) butter, softened • ¼ cup sugar • 2 cups all-purpose flour • 2½ teaspoons baking powder • ½ teaspoon baking soda • 1 teaspoon salt • ⅓ cup buttermilk

She made 6 errors as I pointed out above. Running that flour instead of pulsing it surely developed the gluten in that flour to insure they were tough biscuits. What a mess!
