What do you add to your pimiento cheese recipe?

When I was still working, I noticed most of the younger people had never had homemade pimiento cheese. All they had ever known was the store-bought tubs. I remember my mom making pimiento cheese using a hand crank grinder and she ran all the ingredients through it. As you can imagine, it was very difficult the first time I ever bought processed pimiento cheese at the store. It tasted nothing like my mom's and it barely tasted like pimiento cheese. There are so many foods that are disappearing from our homes! Our old cherished recipes aren't being passed down to our kids.😢 Everyone is in a hurry, no time to cook but these recipes are part of our history. The biggest favor you can do for the next generation is to give them a book containing a collection of your family's recipes! They might be older when they are finally interested but they will hopefully be happy to have their family's recipes and some of their history!😘

We had two of the sandwich and a half selections and they were delicious! Still waiting for the buffalo chicken salad recipe - my husbands favorite! Mine was the pimento cheese! Thanks for sharing.

I have a fiend who hails originally from Tennessee. He occasionally hosts parties at his home and always makes pimento cheese. Hw doesn't mix the Texas Pete in, but puts out a bottle and tells everyone to put just a tiny drop on each cracker after you top it. Yummy.

I love pimiento cheese. I love it on celery, crackers, and a sandwich. I started putting cream cheese in it and it makes it so much better. I make homemade pimiento cheese, it is so much better. I am a scratch cook, I do not like store bought pimiento cheese. I sometimes put colby jack cheese with cheedar and it is really good like that too. Thank you Jamie for sharing your recipe.

When I look up your brother's recipe it says it's a mix of Monterey and sharp cheddar and it has grated onion but it doesn't have the Texas Heat I think I kind of like the mixta to recipes

Oh no - No Duke's Mayo. Texas Pete is pretty good. I prefer others. My mother's pimento cheese was the best but she used a meat grinder and blocks of cheddar.

Recipe calls for one 3oz pkg of cream cheese. Just double checking it’s not a typo, and not one 8 Oz pkg of cream cheese?

Have you ever eaten pimento cheese from an aerosol can? “Cheez Whiz”. On the road, if I don’t want to stop to eat, I carry a bowl of pimento cheese, a hunk of baloney, a loaf of bread and a big bottle of cheap orange soda. I bite off a chunk of bread, followed by baloney and pimento… then wash it down with orange soda. Ummm Ummm.

Needs more pimento, else it just has color, but no taste of the pimento.

Yeah using gloves after you've touched your face is a good idea although you did touch the cream cheese with that same hand before you put the gloves on.
