My 3rd time watching this wonderful adaptation of Nancy Mitford's novel. The title Love in a cold climate comes from a phrase from George Orwell's novel, Keep the the Aspidistra Flying. Michael Aldridge was my favourite so typically English eccentric. But the whole cast were brilliant from start to finish. No doubt this will not be the last time I come back to watch this again. Many thanks

I never wanted it to end. Came here after recently reading the novels, then watching the recent TV adaptation with Lily James. That grew on me eventually, but this series miraculously reflected the characters in my own imagination and brought out subtleties I hadn't noticed in the books. the little scraps of additional dialogue are completely in keeping with the original, and very ingenious.

Such a brilliant adaptation. The Bolter reminds me of Sarah Ferguson! 😁

I thought it was my fault that I can rarely sit through a program these days, but it was because too much hype around average productions. I watched these episodes almost back to back & could just as easily start from beginning again & still be transfixed. Perfection! Thanks for Sharing!

The two books (from which one miniseries was made) are wonderful and make the miniseries really come to life! Highly recommend "The Pursuit of Love" and "Love in a Cold Climate", semi autobiographical novels by Nancy Mitford, of the famous Mitford sisters.

Same here. Transfixed. Brilliant cast, and beautiful performances by all. It nearly feels wrong to use the word "performance" because the actors inhabited their roles perfectly. Not a single cringeworthy moment. (I tried to watch a recent remake, BBC maybe, but I couldn't stand more than ten minutes, it was so utterly horrible.) Thank you Chris for sharing the entire series.

The actress who played Linda was lovely Lucy Gutteridge. She would soon be Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt in "Little Gloria...Happy at Last". I think she would also play Thelma Furness, another Morgan sister in something about Wallis Simpson and Edward. I love how they were able to do things like that.

As dad's army and the recent Downton Abbey series showed, the World Wars were just a fun distraction to the utterly bored and boring landed gentry. I like it that way, frankly. Let the beastly side be unknown.

Matthew! Duh-leeng! Bolter! Awww! Who’s this sewer here?… 😅 … My wonderful Wan hit him on the head while he was being-enticed… And at last we got the British Consul to help because guess what! He was a second cousin of my last husband but two. And we sailed home in a tub that was like Noah’s Ark…

48:01:Please excuse the following little rant: I just heard Polly say that Sauveterre was the most attractive man she had ever met, "magical". That is a nonsense statement from Polly; what she actually said about Sauveterre during that party was that her mother had invited him in hopes that she would find him irresistible in the way that women generally did. Polly was so fixated on Boy at that time, she was oblivious to the charms of Sauveterre. Which nincompoop writer put those words into Polly's mouth, and why? Ok, rant over. Back to the glorious video!

Suddenly I feel so sorry for the Bolter - I don't know if she minds no-one remembering her name though I figure she's decided just to accept that that's now part of her lot in life, but I feel sorry for her constant disappointments, always thinking that this time it'll be the real thing and each time seeing it wear thin. Still, if she ever runs out of things to do she could always write down a memoir of her life and her many loves, aught to find some enjoyment in that and should make a little money for herself if she comes up short.

If you mean Cedric then we saw - he's settling in comfortably having an affair with Boy right under Lady Montdore's nose and they both make her life interesting and entertaining that she's in a state of permanent happiness and never complains about giving either of them money. And a happy Lady Montdore means a happy Lord Montdore so there's no complaints from him. Polly is perfectly happy even if her new husband (or just the man she's living with) the duke of paddington doesn't have that much money (through no fault of his own) so as Cedric said "Here we are, having our lovely cake and eating it too, one's great aim in life." And Cedric won't have to fear for anything happening to him if the police find out that he's gay (unless someone does something silly like leave incriminating letters lying around for the police to find) because he'll be protected by both his charm and his money.
