Really enjoyed this, thank you. BIG Glenn Ford fan - he's versatile! This movie was really sweet, and such a mix of movie veterans and new comers together. The story was fun and fast, the acting was top drawer. This movie could've easily devolved into a silly Disneyesque racing-movie - but resisted and came through with flying colors to a fine finish for all. Never was a real Ricardo Montalban fan (too much 'Corinthian Leather') but he was really down to earth and fun in his role as the stodgy old Grand Duke, lol! "Saddle Tramp" indeed, nice touch. 💖 🇨🇦

Hi Heather, I'm 43 and I love being an old soul myself 😊😊 when i was 6 or 7, one of my uncles used to live in Vienna Austria he used to bring back all his collection every time he was visiting home, although they were in German i still loved them. Now I've managed to collect more than 400 sheer classics from various sources. 😋 These days, I only watch old classics for hours (when i make time) coz, nothing touches your heart like these do....i could never count modern day films are about Life or Humanity...No concept of giving, sharing or caring...rather it turned out to be a big fat propaganda machine which is fulfilling their commitments towards their agendas this is what happens when things fall in to wrong hands 😪 Like you said it was hard for you to find the right peers to talk or share about these classics, imagine what condition i must've gone through while living in the east. 🥶 Although i just found it tonight but i know for sure i'll enjoy it thoroughly. 😉😊

I wish I could go back too. But it was not all fun and games. At least a lot of men were drafted and sent to Vietnam, where thousands did not come back or suffered PTSD. There was the assassination of JFK, the civil rights movement, which was sometimes violent, the Presidency of LB all the dissatisfaction of youth, campus demonstrations and riots. The demonstrations could be fun, if they were not marred by violence. And many things were not so nice. There was the good side, like the Beatles. And also, the polio epidemics of the 50s ended with the Salk vaccine. So, I guess the 60s would have been very nice, but I cannot say that I could really enjoy them. There were so many problems and disappointments. But there were good things too. The Cold War is over, but then the world seems more dangerous now, with jihad and the new Cold War. But the past had much to offer, especially being young.

I remember that my father had 1 job and that was enough for me, my mother, and my little brother. Later in1964 we went to the New York Worlds Fair. By the LIRR. and by car from Richmond Hill to Flushing. Subway, bus, el train was 15 cents. A 10 dollar bill filled the gas tank.
@jamesstuartbrice420
@jamesstuartbrice420 3 жыл бұрын
That reminds me of the movie Midnights in Paris, where a man dreams of living in the 20s. And by magic a vintage car picks him up on the street and takes him into the past, where he meets Hemingway, Picasso, Cole Porter, F Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, Dali and a host of other famous artists and writers of the 20s.. And there he meets a girl who wishes she could have lived in the Belle Epoque, and they get in a coach and it takes them through time to that period, where they meet famous painters and artists of that period. But he does not want to live there, he wants to live in the 20s. The main thing I miss about the 60s is that I was much younger and much nicer. Now I know more, but what good is it when you get old. You just keep regretting what you did not do that you could have done if you had only been as wise as you are now. And there is a saying, Nostalgia is not what it used to be.

I loved “Love is a Ball!!!” For me, Glenn Ford will always be Pa Kent, but I have enjoyed his work way before “Superman.” And this being one of them. This film was also a discovery for me of actress Hope Lange. I have seen her before in “Bus Stop.” And after seeing “Love is a Ball,” I became a big fan of hers. I can best describe Hope’s character Millicent here as a typical spoiled rich brat but who still needs love like everyone else as just “utterly charming.” She had the same charming and charismatic character she displayed as Queenie in “Pocketful of Miracles.” I have been enjoying Hope’s performances!!! 😃

My gosh. The engine in the Maserati sounds like an airplane engine. Wow. That scene though in which she's driving recklessly through is too spooky & reminiscent of Princess Grace & her terrible accident. Seeing the Prince in the credits- wow. Telly in this character is terrific too, have never seen him play that before & he's great. What a wardrobe to behold they have for Hope -wish we could see more but her Imelda Marcos shoe closet was something else! And the view of the all the gorgeous boats, plus the scenery - beautiful. If I had a do-over in my life I'd try living on the water & seeing the world's beaches that way. 🎣🎏🏝⛵️⚓️🌁💠
