If being closed off with someone is the ‘bare minimum’ how come only Ty could stick to it but Ella couldn’t? And of course you should be take time to pick who you consider worthy of commitment, not every person is. For example, some people (like Ella) aren’t trustworthy and don’t stick to their commitments. If anything, Ty should have been even warier to make a commitment to her than he was.

If Ella had doubts about his character from his prior antics, she should not have agreed to being closed off, this was not something she was forced into, she was the one pushing it more. None of what he did justifies her making a commitment and then violating it (then looking for garbage excuses to defend that). Her offence is worse as it displays her lack of integrity, untrustworthiness, hypocrisy and overall weak principles.
