Sting has been a favorite of mine since his days with The Police (Every Breath You Take, Wrapped Around Your Finger). His catalog is filled with poetic and thought-provoking songs such as "Englishman In New York", The Shape of My Heart , "Russians", and "Fragile". The latter two songs have relevance today, and there is a video on You Tube of Sting accompanying Stevie Wonder for "Fragile". Two musical geniuses on stage and they are amazing. You're right Amber. You HAVE stumbled upon something. Great choice. Please do more. Thank You!

You'll now want to find the Eva Cassidy version of this song. She was amazing. Also, this might be your first reaction to a solo song by Sting, but you've done a number of songs by The Police. Sting was the lead singer of that band.

It's soooooo funny when you say "new artist", I know why, but it still cracks me up!!! 😂 Sting and The Police have been a staple throughout my life. You cannot go wrong - the list of songs is endless by Sting alone and then you add The Police and you have a plethora of unbelievable tracks to listen to. Oh my gosh, dig in and enjoy - Englishman in New York, If you Love Somebody Set Them Free, Fortress Around Your Heart, When We Dance, Murder by Numbers, Canary in a Coalmine, When the World is Running Down You Make the Best of What's Still Around, Driven to Tears, Synchronicity I and II , So Lonely ....... and on and on it goes. It's a great ride!!!!! I can still remember the very first time I heard Roxanne - good grief, I was babysitting, put the kids to bed and decided to turn on the stereo in the living room. Never heard them before, they had just hit North America that was 1978/9. And if you love Sting, another amaziing artist to check out is David Sylvian.✌❤

Great song and great album. Sting was the lead singer of The Police. He was also an English teacher before getting into Rock. His solo career has been quite different from The Police, much more jazz influenced. Try "We'll be Together" as a follow up, or "Be Still my Beating Heart".

You guys know Sting! He was in the Police. You reacted to their "Every Breath You Take" and "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic". This is Sting having gone solo. He had none other than Branford Marsalis (from the first family of jazz from New Orleans) on sax in his band. His music had a jazz influence. Many great songs to react to. I think "Fields of Gold" is his most beautiful. I think Eva Cassidy did a cover of this. Sting is another artist that appeared at Live Aid.

Their “upbringing”?? They are 29 yrs old. Hip hop & Rap was their diet. They are only beginning to get an understanding and appreciate for the musical talent & legends that predates their birth. Give them their due. They are gradually getting educated and this is a perfect example of how far they still have to go. I applaud their journey and awakening.

When these two were kids, sting would have already been on the classics stations and off the mainstream. Same with The Police. As for not recognizing him, they did 2 very up tempo Police songs with a much younger Sting. Older, more chill Sting is almost a different artist when you combine the mellow song with a completely different backing orchestration by a totally different band

"Mad About You" is one of my favorites, as is "Fortress Around Your Heart", "Shape Of My Heart", "The Soul Cages", "Fragile", and "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You". He's a true icon.

This song was from late in Sting’s popular period (mid-1990s), but he has been a giant in the music industry from late 1970s to today. He started with the Police and then went solo mid-1980s. His biggest other solo hits are Love is the Seventh Wave, Englishmen in New York, Desert Rose, Russians, Fragile, If I Ever Lose My Faith in You, They Dance Alone, and Brand New Day. His album Soul Cages was not popular, but it is a gem of an album about his personal life growing up - melancholy with a sea theme. It is well worth a listen. Cheers.

Many of us have mentioned him as a solo artist for months, since you heard him as the lead singer of "The Police". I know I've suggested him a _lot_ . More by Sting... "We'll Be Together" "Be Still My Beating Heart" (about his struggles after losing his mom. I played it a lot after losing my mom, and I still listen to it regularly.) "Rock Steady" "Set Them Free" (features saxophonist Branford Marsallis, whose brother Wynton also plays saxophone. I've suggested both for jazz. Branford played on several of Sting's songs. "Englishman In New York" "Shape of My Heart" (from the movie "The Professional". It's one of my favorite movies.) "Fortress Around Your Heart" "Tomorrow We'll See" "Nothin' Bout Me" "Seven Days" "Saint Augustine In Hell" (great guitar, drums and keyboard/piano) "Shadows In the Rain" (the keyboard will grab you)

I didn't fall in love with Sting until this song, which I love so much I want it played at my funeral. This album "Ten Summoner's tales" was huge, then I started listening to his other albums, and then I became a Police Fan. The Police had a reunion tour in 2008, they had broken up in the 80s and didn't do anything new but did a tour. The concert was probably the only concert I attended where I knew the words to every song. Was incredible. I love Sting so much I saw him on his brand new day tour on each coast. Great artist. Glad you guys discovered him and this was your first reaction.
