Oh the summer of 1984! I was 11 years old in my backyard in Scotland pitching tents made from bedsheets and enjoying every song that came from the transistor radio next to me. This was one of the best songs of the year. Coincidentally I was thinking the other day that this song should be reviewed!

aye! well.....they were a Scottish band It was such a weird juxtaposition for us in my community. We were only eating like a tin of beans a day while on the miners strike in South Wales. Deep recession. The state broke us eventually after over a year. But there was always such happy tunes on the radio .... very bizarre looking back tbh

For any UK watchers who know what Im talking about, this will forever be the theme song of Terry Wogan's TOGs (Terry's Old Gits). I love this song. I have fond memories of when it rereleased in 1993. Reminds me of my first girlfriend. We'd got together on a school trip to Granada studios in Manchester England. Think of it as a dollar store universal studios, lol. At the end of the tour we all went out into the courtyard and there was a big stage. The radio was playing through the speakers outside and this song come on. I think it had just gotten to No1 the day before. Anyway, Gemma got up on stage to dance and I refused to get up as I was a bit of a shy kid at the time. I just sat back and watched her dance to the song. I get transported back to that day whenever I hear this. Great memories from my youth.

Jay and Amber, I'm glad you enjoyed this song. And while i didn't hate it, there are many other songs fom the 80s that i wish you would do. As someone already mentioned, the young waitress in this video is Claire Grogan and she has her own band Altered Images- Don't Talk to me About Love that you could do. Or another song previously mentioned by Aztec Camera-Oblivious. The name Bluebells reminded me of another 80s group, The Belle Stars- Sign of the Times, they're an all girl group. Other fun songs include Roman Holiday- Don't Try to Stop it or Stand By, The Reflex- Politics of Dancing, The Suburbs- Love is the Law, Q-Feel-Dancing in Heaven. So many more.

It was originally released in 1984 and got to number 8 in the charts. But we all remember it for the Volkswagen advert from the early 90s, 1993 I think it was when it got re-released and got to number 1 in the charts.

Love this feel good song...age is just a number...I'll be 54 in October and my kids constantly tell me to act my age or my 19 yr old likes to say I'm just a 2yr old that can drive legally 😂😂😂

Frank Sinatra recorded a song in the fifties called Young At Heart. Actually there was a musical in 1954 called Young At Heart starring Doris Day and Frank Sinatra which featured the song. You guys should check it out.

The fat man serving in the cafe was a famous (serious) actor called Stratford Johns who'd been in the huge BBC police drama series "Softly Softly". Obviously did this for the laugh! The older lady is Mollie Weir, another Scots actor.

The older couple in the video are Molly Weir & Stratford Johns - both well-known UK actors in their day. Molly Weir starred in a TV series called Supergran and Stratford Johns was Chief Inspector Barlow in Z-Cars (which also starred Brian Blessed of Flash Gordon fame) and Softly Softly.

Hi guys. Could I please put in a request for you to review one of my favourite records of all time , "The First Picture Of You" , by a band called The Lotus Eaters. It was released in the UK in 1983 and in my opinion it's a masterpiece of a song. I'm fairly certain you'd love it. Keep up the great work.

I'm so surprised y'all are covering this. It wasn't very well known in the US. I used to listen to their song "Cath" a lot in 1983. Y'all might also like Lloyd Cole and the Commotions.

This was an unexpected pick. I knew some of the people from this scene back in the early 80s, and briefly worked for Aztec Camera, the band guitarist Craig Gannon was in before he joined The Bluebells.
