Warlock was the band Doro Pesch formed in (West) Germany as a teenager... they debuted in 1984 w/ the album 'Burning the witches'... Doro became an iconic female vocalist in heavy metal... 'Triumph and agony' in 1987 became Warlock's biggest record w/ MTV airing the 'All we are' music video, but the band had been replaced by session musicians ... Doro was at odds w/ their management and apparently furious when she realized that they had the rights to the name Warlock... the band split up soon after. Warlock songs - 'I rule the ruins' ... 'Burning the witches'... 'Fur immer' Relaunching her career w/ a new band Doro, she released 'Force majeure' in 1989... followed by the 'Doro' album in 1990... Neither sold commercially in the USA and Doro was dropped. They continued to record and tour Europe in the 90's as grunge rock decimated Doro's career. However, she was persistent and kept releasing Doro albums and toured Europe... In 2000, Doro released her 7th album 'Callin the wild' and it finally got Doro a US release after 10 years... even though Doro Pesch relocated to the USA, Doro has continued to record and tour to date... Some of Doro's songs - 'Dedication' ... 'Hard times' ... 'Always live to win' ... 'Unholy love'... 'Pain'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘

I rule the ruins is another great Warlock tune. For a softer take on Doro Look into 'Fur Immer' Both are great, and Doro is still rocking the festival circuit to this day.

I just turned 65 and have had serious back problems the past few years and started really Listening to the music of my younger days. I have not listened to much music since I got out of the Navy in 1990 because to me music had gone down hill. I enjoy watching younger people react to music I ❤ed years ago. I also found some younger BANDS that ROCK instead of in my opinion todays garbage.

Rob Halford is the Metal God and Doro is the Metal Goddess! I was blessed to see Warlock in a 3,000 seat theater back in the day, I was in love and blown away! She recorded that song before she could speak English very well! She's still rocking.

Saw Doro (she finally got name rights from Warlock back) in concert last year in Germany but she also tours USA. She is still rocking it now on stage with those Stevie Nicks type vocals, and still has that 80's metal attitude... as well as leather outfits on stage ha ha. Warlock were really influential, and in an interview said she got chorus idea of song hearing fans sing at her home town Düsseldorf soccer game. Should check out "East Meets West" or "Metal Tango".

Been a fan of Warlock since the mid-eighties. Doro is one of the original shield maidens of Metal. Her later, solo stuff is impressive as well. Outstanding catalog of material. "Lady In a Rock n Roll Hell, Love Song, Scarred, Are You An Angel, Unholy Love," etc, etc.

The mother of Metal. She ran with the male dominated scene and earned the respect of musicians and fans alike. She proved she is more than a pretty face. Back when this first came out, they played a small bar in OKC off NW 10th St. A friend and I were one of about 50 people there. We sat about 20 feet from the small stage and had to hold the pitcher and ash trays from vibrating off the table. They were great!

Warlock was Doro's original band back in the 80s, but she went on to do Solo stuff under the name Doro and a couple of her latest songs are "Children of the Dawn" and "Time for Justice." Check those out. She's been doing the Mad Max post-apocalyptic themes in her solo career a lot.

This is from their 4th and most commercial successful album Triumph and Agony which had other great songs like "Three Minute Warning", "I Rule The Ruins", "East Meets West", "Touch of Evil", and "Metal Tango". They have videos from their first and heavier album Burning The Witches from songs "Burning The Witches" and "Metal Racer as well as "Hellbound" the title track of their 2nd album. Doro went solo after this album and released Force Majeure. With a great song "A Whiter Shade of Pale", which was a cover of a 60's song. It shows off how beautiful of a voice she has. Also, with songs like, "Unholy Love", "Love Me in Black", "Black Rose" and good ear Amber she also covered Hearts "Barracuda". I was fortunate to see her and Warlock in 2019 at The Whisky in Hollywood. That was a great show. She is still going strong in 2024 with new material and she has not lost her voice one bit. Still looks great too. Birth name is Dorothy Pesch.

Doro has always and rightfully been known as the Metal Queen. She's constantly touring and has headlined the biggest metal festival, Wacken, more than once. This song is a little bittersweet because it was Warlock's 4th studio album and this song should have and probably would have been the starting point for Warlock to really take off but they spilt with the manager and (somehow legally) took the name Warlock. So Doro had to start all over again and the record company had to convince her to use her own name because she never wanted to do that. After YEARS in court, she finally won and was able to buy back the rights to the name Warlock so she owns it again. I've been lucky enough to know her and the guys in the band and crew and call them friends for about 15 years now. She's is literally the nicest person you could ever hope to meet. To me, she's the greatest singer of all time. I call her the female version of Dio. Ive seen her perform in at least 6 states, on a cruise ship in the Caribbean, in England (London and Manchester), in Spain, and just last year, in her hometown of Dusseldorf, Germany for her 40th anniversary concert. Great singer, great performer, great woman.

Doro is the true metal queen. She has been called the female Dio. She loves her fans 100 percent. She is the sweetest , most down to earth rock star you can ever meet. I met her back in the early 80s. You should listen to the song " burning witches " live from the camden palace to see her in a live setting. She still tours and is worth seeing.

Another awesome female fronted 80’s metal band is Chastain. They’re like an even heavier Warlock. Leather Leone does great on vocals, and they have David T Chastain shredding the guitar.

After Warlock splitted Doro were not allowed to use the name. So they changed it to DORO. Warlock's album "Triumph and Agony" is real banger and (for me) a milestone in female metal. Try “Kiss of Death" from the same album. Greetings from Germany 🤘😊

Very rare band back around 84.I remembered seing them on three rock music channels back then but never on the radio that much even to today. They were on MTV for a short time. The other music channel called Rock World and ABC Rocks then after that. Rock World actually had more rock bands on their videos than MTV did back then. From Warlock that was the only song and video i have seen from them.

Crowd participation? Oh yes. Everybody screams along during that chorus and during club shows she actually puts the microphone down to people up front so they can sing into the microphone during it. It's rarely pretty to hear but it's still a cool moment.

I just listened to the album once again two weeks back and by chance a young metal band was playing this song at a gig I went to recently - and the whole audience was singing it. Incredible how this song is still as popular as more than a third of a century ago. So great you did Doro!

On MTV there was a show called HEADBANGERS BALL and I must have been about 15-16 when this was out and I thought it was so awesome! This is is not a female fridays song to react to but since you are looking at European hard rock bands you need to react to a band called D.A.D. The name is actually pretty dumb (Disney After Dark). But they eventually just became known as D.A.D. after some conflict with Disney. The song to react to is - "Sleeping My Day Away". Such a great tune and a really good band from Denmark.

Doro Pesch is THE female voice of Metal. This is from the band's 4th Album Triumph and Agony (1987) but I fell in love with Doro and Warlock with their song Earthshaker Rock from their 2nd album Hellbound (1985). Doro has just released a new album last year, her I think, 16th studio album. Warlock released 4 albums although Doro's debut solo album came after a fall out with the record label over the name of the band as their was a line up change and Doro wanted to keep the name Warlock but wasn't allowed to.

I saw on tour both as the band Warlock and then as the new band Doro. Unbelievable talent and or course she was sexy as hell. Being a teen and a early twenties and she is only two years older than me so yeah that clicked perfectly. I Rule the Ruins and East Meets West are great Warlock songs. After she changed the band to Doro their second album was produced by Gene Simmons and Tommy Thayer, who was in the Simmons produced band Black and Blue and went on to be KISS's final guitarist, played on the album.
