I'm a fan of HAL. I've always felt comfortable and cared about while on-board. I love their itineraries. And the fact that they are NOT ran over with children.

The name of the ship is pronounced Z-eye-der-dam. NOT "Zweederdam".

What age group was it? I’m in my forties and keen to try HAL, people keep telling me it’s a much older age group and that I would be out of place

I'm in my 40's and enjoy HAL. The typical and average age is indeed older, often 60+. Much of the entertainment, though not all, includes music from the 50s to the 70s. Unless you decide you are out of place, I suspect you will feel welcome. Granted, loud and wild drunks (outside of a few bars) and wild, unruly children aren't appreciated by most passengers. So as long as you aren't planning to be wild and unruly at any age, are willing to dress in what I would call business casual attire for dinner in the main dining room, and don't expect modern pop music to be played as the default, I suspect you will be fine.

Zuiderdam has Starlink internet - very fast, very good. Prices vary according to itinerary, but quality and speed is there.

Trying to listen to this video again, and again I had to stop because I can't get past the fact that even though you were on the ship for two weeks you don't pronounce its name correctly! Surely every time the captain came on the loudspeaker he said "Zeye-derdam" and not "ZWEEderdam"! Can you edit the video? I'm sure there is good info here, but how can I trust it when you can't pronounce the name of the ship????

You’re really that bothered by it? I heard about six different pronunciations on the ship from actual employees.
