I've been listening to metal for 5 decades - Slayer, Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Testament, Anthrax, etc. and all are awesome, but sometimes they miss with a track or even an album. I have some favorites with Lovebites, but they just don't miss overall - they don't have any songs I would not listen to over & over. They are just incredible. If they played in the 80's/90's they would likley be considered 1 of the top 3-4 metal bands of all time (I believe they are the best). Lovebites could cover anything those bands put out, but I would love to see them try to cover a Lovebites track. SMH. Dive deeper, they just get more impressive.

Congratulations. Nobody expects what they hear when they first see LOVEBITES. Filmed during Covid (hence clapping…no cheering, go figure). The Dimebag guitarist was 4/5 months pregnant (after the original dates were delayed). You won’t hear a single weak song from LOVEBITES, everything they write they can reproduce live (or they don’t record it). I’m 64 and this is the best band I have ever seen and heard.

Welcome to the 8th Wonder of the World: Lovebites!!! Just some info: Any videos or music from 2021 or earlier is with Miho as the bass player and co-founder. This concert, which is great, lacks a bit of energy due to COVID restrictions (In my opinion). Their stage set up is awesome, but the crowd is held back. Also, Miyako on screen right is playing 4 months pregnant. The previous show, Five of a kind from 2020, is a Awesome concert. They show no stopping from beginning to end and with the crowd, the show is even better. After Miho left in 2021, the band took some time off and Fami became the new bass player and they dropped a new album, Judgement Day in December of 2022. They came out with a two day show called Knocken at Heavens Gate to show off Fami and the excitement from the band being on stage to the crowd was electric. They released 8 songs from it and they show various styles of play. Hammer of Wrath was the opening song. Songs from the new album are Judgement Day and Stand and Deliver (Shoot em Down). My introduction to Lovebites was 'The Winds of Transylvania' which was written by them for an Anime series, Vlad Love. There are two versions on YT, one live and the music video anime version. It was the latter that I saw, I felt I had been hit by a runaway train, three years later I'm still not sure I've recovered 😅 I have been listening to heavy rock and metal for over 50 years, and I feel Lovebites are one of the best bands I've ever heard. I'm going to see them play a gig in London next June 😃

Asami/vocals at 4' 10" is a stage Napoleon general who writes the band's lyrics. Haruna/drums at 4' 9" is a dynamo beast on all out mode from start to finish. Midori/blond guitar and Miyako/dark hair guitar a/k/a M&M is the best duo playing LIVE today. Their world tour kicks off this year and Hiu is an early member of the Wolfpack (fanbase) and all his recommendations will be excellent as Lovebites never disappoints especially LIVE, but they will surprise as you just experienced. With Thrash Metal being my favourite metal subgenre, this is one of my five favourite songs by Lovebites, the other four being "Break the Wall" (live version from 2020), "The Hammer of Wrath", "Dissonance" and "Soldier Stands Solitarily" (the latter is Power Metal, though), but there are at least another 10 Lovebites-songs I like about as much and so far none I don't like. I don't see any other band doing the same range of different "old school" metal genres (still waiting for their first Doom Metal song, though) and playing on the same level as they do. Looking forward to finally seeing them live in Belgium and Germany in June!

You are definitely correct that they have an "80's sound", although its a modernised version of the 80's sound. They are influenced by the legendary metal bands of the 80's and 90's - Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest etc. Since stumbling across LOVEBITES a few years ago, I quickly fell in love with them. Blown away, speechless, stunned, my cheeks hurt, I almost cry; well, it seems you’ve just watched Lovebites for the very first time. Yes, these Japanese girls are extremely talented, skillful and versatile proficient musicians. Some people say that they’re breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene or that they’re out of this world. You’re right, their main influences are Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Helloween, Dragonforce, Yngwie Malmsteen, Pantera, Megadeth, Deep Purple, Angra, Gary Moore, etc., but they have been developing their own and unique style. In an interview, Miho (ex bassist and founder of the band) said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined Lovebites. Miyako (black hair guitarist) is also a concert level classical pianist. Their live performances are just outstanding. My next recommendations are “The hammer of wrath”, “Judgement day”, “Break the wall”, “Shadowmaker”, “When destinies align”, “Winds of Transylvania”, “Above the Black Sea”, “Don’t bite the dust”, “Raise some hell”. And for a different side of them: “Edge of the world”, “Empty daydream”, “Epilogue”, “Chopin etude + Swan song”, “Liar”, “Glory to the world”, “Dancing with the devil”, “A frozen serenade”, “Spellbound”. All live, but “Shadowmaker”, “Winds…”, “When…” and “Glory…” have excellent MVs.

Over 2,000 views already. That might be just as surprising to y'all as the performance of Lovebites. As you can see, Lovebites has a very passionate fanbase of which I am a member. In about 6 months, I will be driving over 1000 miles from Texas to Atlanta to witness the US debut of Lovebites at ProgPower. There are probably several commenters that will also be there. Also like several of the commenters, I have listening to rock/metal for over 5 decades. I was in my 20s during the 1980s. My favorite metal band is Iron Maiden. I am also a huge fan of that great Texas thrash band Pantera. Lovebites took me back to me youth unlike any other band in recent memory. Their musicianship is up there with the legendary 70s/80s metal bands. I would also put their first four albums up against any other band's first four albums (with the possible exception of Megadeth). Not sure that anyone has mentioned it, but Set The World On Fire was composed by the dark haired guitarist Miyako, with lyrics by the vocalist Asami. Miyako is the only female signature artist for Dean Guitars and the only one from Japan. She wasn't playing her signature guitar in this video. Her signature guitar is a beautiful red and black and very similar in shape to her guitar in this video.

Lovebites are part of what I like to call the big four along with Babymetal, Band-Maid, & Nemophila. Great starters for them: Babymetal-Metali (feat. The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
