Masterpiece of music and song. Miyako is a gift from the heavens !

Miyako is a generational talent who is a virtuoso on BOTH the guitar and piano. She has been classically-trained on the piano since the age of 3. Miyako also composed & arranged "Swan Song" and this track is a neoclassical metal masterpiece. Throughout the song, you can hear motifs from Romantic-era composers Chopin (intro, main riff, solo) and Dvořák (Chorus). Miyako's piano intro is Chopin's "Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor", aka the "Revolutionary Étude". BTW, Chopin is pronounced "show-pan". It took me 30 seconds of the first song I ever heard from them for them to become my favourite band. That was almost 4 years ago. One of the many reasons I admire them is because 90% of their lyrics are uplifting and they play a lot of tunes that are in themselves uplifting. Best band ever, and at 64 I don’t say that off the cuff.

There are so many references in this masterpiece. Ex. Musical composition: Miyako - During a performance in Vienna, Chopin learned that his country had been invaded by the Russians. He composed the Revolutionary Etude during his permanent exile. - The swan song is a ancient Greek (κύκνειον ᾆσμα) metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death while they have been silent (or alternatively not so musical) for most of their lifetime - Part of the melody is inspired by Dvorak ↓ kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qpZ4gc-otrilnok.htmlsi=tprI6RWRx9u6YeM2&t=54 Lyrics: Asami - A former ballerina, she wrote the lyrics inspired by Nordic mythology and the ballet suite “Swan Lake”

Some knowledge of history is required to understand the meaning of the lyrics of this song. In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was known as the 'November Revolution', but failed due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's representatives presented the Etude OP 10, No. 12 in Paris. Franz Liszt, a friend of Chopin, then named it the 'Revolutionary Etude'. Miyako composed Swan Song based on this 'Revolutionary Etude' and Dvorak's 'New World Symphony'. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake", based on the historical background of the "Revolutionary Etude". "SwanSong" is a requiem for the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only Love Bites could complete.

Miyako is awesome, classical trained on piano from age 3 and self taught on guitar at age 18. She is a true music savant, while also being a complete gear nerd (her YT channel has videos of her Star Wars and Gear Nerd musings). Asami/vocals once again bring her positive energy to the lyrics which she does for most of the songs by the band.

LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics: If this was the last day you could live on this earth Would you still go on, accusing someone for today It’s better to fail than not do anything at all It is not the length, but depth of life that counts Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been through despair Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to never care You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life Sometimes the life of one can save so many more Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan SOLO: miyako / both Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan SOLO: midori [guitar] / miyako [piano] ----- lyrics: asami music: miyako arrangement: miyako & LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami) album: Electric Pentagram 01/29/2020 ------

Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the great classical composers, specializing in highly technical works for piano. "Etude" is French for "study". Chopin's Etudes were written as "studies", or lessons, for his students. They ended up being popular things for professional pianists to play as part of their concerts, in part to show off their skills. This is one of the more famous ones and is considered one of the difficult ones. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák and Chopin, as well as her stated favorite, Russian romantic composer Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). For this performance, she actually played the Etude as the intro, but it’s not normally included in their shows.

excellent reaction, unfortunately you can see very little in the video but Asami who has a past of at least 15 years of classical ballet at the end when the camera moves to Miyako at the piano performs the "death of the swan" from the famous classical ballet "swan lake "just to say that for these women nothing is casual

Thanks for your reaction. LOVEBITES: 🐺Miho - bass, backing vocals. 🐺Haruna - drums. 🐺Midori (blonde) - guitars, backing vocals. 🐺Miyako (brunette) - guitars, piano, keyboards, backing vocals. 🐺Asami - lead vocals, piano. 🐺Fami - bass, backing vocals (since October 2022). 'Etude Op.10, No.12' ( or 'Revolutionary Etude') by the Great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, which was written in 1831 and is dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland. 'Swan Song' ( lyrics - Asami / music - Miyako) from LOVEBITES third studio Album 'Electric Pentagram' (2020). For many centuries (starting from Ancient Greece) there is a legend, according to which Swans, non-singing, "silent" birds, acquire a voice a few moments before death, and this dying singing of Swans is amazingly beautiful. 'Etude' by F. Chopin and 'Swan Song' are dedicated to the warriors who died in battle. Therefore, at the concert, 'Etude' and 'Swan Song' are played together. In an interview given after the release of the 'Electric Pentagram' Album, singer Asami (a former ballerina, studied classical ballet for about 16 years before becoming a singer) said that when she wrote the lyrics of the song, she was thinking about the famous ballet P.I. Tchaikovsky 'Swan Lake'. During the performance of the song, Asami imitates the Swan (hand movements). And in the final part (piano Miyako), symbolizing the death of the Swan, Asami depicts the dying Swan on stage. Since the camera at the end of the song is focused on Miyako playing the piano, Asami's "death of the Swan" was not captured in the shot. Asami added some Scandinavian mythology (Valhalla) to the lyrics. The attitudes towards death among the Japanese Samurais and the Scandinavian Vikings were very similar. For Samurais and Vikings, death in combat with weapons in their hands is a death worthy of a warrior. Death in battle is better than death from old age in your bed. All Vikings dreamed of dying in battle because then they could go to Valhalla (Hall of warriors killed in battles) where they would meet God Odin and other Vikings who fought bravely and died in arms.

A gentle correction if I may, Chopin is pronounced show- pan. He was 'a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic period, who wrote primarily for solo piano. He has maintained worldwide renown as a leading musician of his era, one whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation" ' (Quote from wiki) Many of his works were composed as practice pieces for students of the piano and are considered very difficult to play well including the Étude Op. 10, No. 12 which Miyako plays as the introduction to Swan Song. On her YT channel, 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' she has a short video of herself practicing a Franz Liszt composition, La Campanella, which is another difficult piano piece that she uses in the Lovebites song Lost In The Garden. This is made harder for her due to her small hands. All the members of Lovebites are, IMO, supremely talented, but even in their company, Miyako is special. It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also plays guitar in a heavy metal band. The cherry on top is that she is a sweet, modest, beautiful and elegant young woman who is also a wife, mother, animal lover and Star Wars fan. A renaissance woman for the 21st century.

TBH, I didn't care for Lovebites the first time I heard them - and it was Asami's vocals that turned me off. "Holy War" was the song. Luckily, I later gave them another chance with "Raise Some Hell". Now, a couple years into Lovebites worship I have so much respect for Asami and what she contributes. Composing these lyrics in her second language can't be easy and I'm also appreciative of her theatrics, like portraying the Swan here (it's my understanding that, during Miyako's piano outro, the Swan dies but we miss that), and her performance in "Frozen Serenade". IMHO now, she's the best frontperson in the business today, except maybe Floor Jansen, but I still vote Asami.
