Tamayo was a truly good man and also one of the greatest Pipeline surfers ever. He has always been full of joy and humor and super humble and generous. From when he was young he was charging Pipe with classic Hawaiian Style and always cool with anyone and everyone who crossed his path. A hui ho brother

I knew Tomayo too. I used to surf Goat Islsnd with him in the early/mid 90’s when I was at college. Whenever I came back to visit Hawaii, I’d bump into him. He is one of the most likable people I ever met. Then to think of the countless people that are walking around, still alive because of his skills as a life guard is mind blowing. He will be sorely missed. Damn it.
