A tiny baby orangutan arrives at Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rescue Sanctuary. Little does she know what her future will hold as she’s enrolled in a unique school, where orphaned orangutans are taught all the survival skills their mother would have taught them in the wild. From nursery school, through Junior and Senior School, and even college, there’s one goal; to prepare students like Topan, Beni, and Cinta to survive in the wild.

I love you BOS. What the borneo orangutan survival foundation conservation scientists do is so much more than saving the people of the forest. They're saving humans by saving the rain forest. Reforestation of orangutan habitat is a crucial piece of the climate change puzzle. Why is that so hard for billions of people to understand? Start thinking in terms of the aggregate and the greater good rather than just what's going on in your little corner of the world.

@@mssaleha3273 Yes, there are national parks and protected grounds. The main issue with the poor beautiful orangutans is the palm oil industry. There are other cash crop options to make money in developing countries other than palm. Easier said than done I know, but we must ensure the remaining great ape species survive and thrive.

And you're feeding these companies thinking you're getting a fair deal, but your own country surrounded by ocean will be first to go under sea water when deforestation, habitat destruction, and all these nonsense snowball to a global warming and rising sea levels

That cry of distress is heart wrenching! Being ripped away from all they have ever known. The warm secure safe loving arms of their mother, seeing god knows what. Before this sanctuary these beautiful beings would simply die robbing the world of something that has 96% of our DNA!

@keithmuehsam8990 Their mothers are dead. They'll be cared for by humans until they're self-sufficient enough to be released onto a protected island. That process takes 7 or 8 years. Bad humans caused this problem. Good humans are caring for and teaching them all the skills they need to survive on their own.

I believe you are just amazing human beings.❤❤❤❤❤and why is man called mankind. When these people that destroy the moms and take these babies from their moms and natural habitats are not kind. They are evil evil evil. So mankind for these people should be man unkind. They will get their due judgment and punishment in the end. I was simply shocked when the narrator said that orangutans can be used ‘as a source of meat’ in the country side. As a source of meat?? Could a human really look at an infant and eat it? Would that human’s child be dying of starvation and the eating of the orangutan be the only way to feed the child? Because if that wasn’t the reason and I was anywhere near, there would be hellfire to pay and I mean it. I thought I was stunned enough to see video of adult female orangutans tied to a post in a filthy hut where men come to drink alcohol and then have sex with the orangutan. Yes, I’ve seen the video. There are things in this world that go against natural laws. Using animals for sex because they appear close to humans is as repugnant as any image. It’s worse because it’s something a man chose. He was not dying of hunger, or in need of some truly rare animal part to save a human life. ‘Do not rape, do not kill’. These are not simple rules but codes of conduct that all men around the world can follow. I wish I had a hundred million dollars to donate to these wonderful people dedicating their lives to saving these animals who appear so close to us.

Sadly some of them really consumed that 😢, I remember when I was younger when I visited my relatives in Sumatra island (there are orangutans as well) and my dad was invited by one of the neighbours to eat some meat cooked, and when he go to kitchen he saw the head of orangutans he was shocked and he immediately went back and refused the offer, I really hope they are stop now tho since Sumatran orangutans are critically endangered now 😢

They get released to a reserved island that the sanctuary owns. They go there everyday to check on them once they’re released.
