Have seen Loverboy play several times and have never been disappointed, as they have delivered a great performance every time. My favorite story is when they had just started an outdoor concert during the 2016 Sturgis bike rally, when a big storm came up. Mike Reno was just beginning "Notorious" and was standing under the front edge of a large canopy that was above the band stage. As the song began it began lightning and pouring rain, and rain water began to collect on top of the canopy. All of a sudden about halfway through the song, a huge gust of wind came in and lifted the canopy, dumping about 50 gallons of rainwater right on top of Reno. I thought that was it, concert was over. Mike's hair and all his clothes were soaked. But while the band kept playing, Reno pulled up his sunglasses off the end of his nose, put his headband back on, and started singing again and eventually finished the whole concert. What dedication!

Im one of the lucky ones that got to live the 80's. My daughter while she was in college all her friends and her would say how lucky i was being in the 80's cause the music now days sucks. This coming from 20 something year old kids. Now my daughter hits me for my play list i have which is extensive. Those who are from the 80's know that to be true cause you had to be amazing to make it back then cause as fans we demanded the greatest from our musicians back then and we never settled for less no matter what.

I was obsessed with Loverboy in the 80s. I saw them live back in 2014 and they sounded great. It was like I was a teenager again. They’ve aged but we all have. And Matt Frenette is a kick ass drummer.

I don't care what anybody says. I still think that "Mike Reno" was just a stage name for Dan Marino who I think was the REAL lead singer for Loverboy during the NFL off season. 🏈 🎤 🤔

There will never be great music like the 80's I was a teenager in the eighties and it was awsome, best times of my life!!! And this band Loverboy was my favorite I was in love with the lead singer, I had a huge crush on him and would daydream of me being there watching him preform, I had a wild imagination LOL Rock on Loverboy Love you❤

An interesting fact: Loverboy was originally going to call themselves "The Paul Dean Band" because Paul Dean, the guitarist founded the band in 1980. However, the members decided "The Paul Dean Band" didn't sound very original. So the members of Loverboy started looking through magazines trying to help them come up with a one of a kind name, and one of them came to an advertisement for Covergirl makeup. From there, they came up with "Coverboy" but then they decided "Loverboy" sounded better. That's how Loverboy got launched! A very one of a kind name and one of the greatest Canadian rock bands in history! ~Dutch

+YouCantHoldOnTooLong Close, but actually Paul Dean, from the original line-up, was banned in 1980. To protest the record company's subsequent name change to the 'AssMonkeys,' the group went to an independent label, CoCrock Records, and became what we know today as the Gabe-Ass-Tards. The rest, as they say, is Rock 'N Roll bullshit.

After all, their music was obviously recorded long before your generation. i was at a journey and lover boy concert i had no idea who lover boy was and i was expecting them to suck but turns out they were amazing i actually loved them more than journey

That is an awesome story :) They were one of the very FIRST 80's rock bands, their sound kicked everything off! ALL the songs were amazing and Mike Reno? A killlllller frontman. p.s. A lot of people feel many later bands such as Def Lepperd, Motley Crue, etc. were basically just a rehashing of Loverboy!!!

I think it's because they are Canadian and they might not have been as popular in the states,which is like a lot of really good Canadian bands that don't get enough air play in the states. Lover boy had a lot of hits up here
