Turned out it was someone’s backyard without hotsprings. The couple was super nice and invited us to stop in next year for a camp out though!

Great that you got home safe mate, do you think that the motor got damaged at all, had a similar experience on a 912s and got lucky with no damage.

@@chrissnaproll26 - Yeah Id like to see the oil color before and after. If that motor was in a car it would have fried. Thats when cheap oil fails you also. I even have amsoil in my mower because air cooled motors need a little insurance.

That guy (Hal?) with the coveralls and ball cap really reminds me of my late uncle Roy Sprague, part of Art Scholl's air-show trip that was the first to perform behind the Iron Curtain. A Navy veteran of Kamikaze (attempted) attacks on his Jeep carrier in WWII, he went on to become an A&P, which was for years one of his day jobs. He would come home from work looking exactly like Hal, with a few grease stains but the satisfaction of work well done and disasters prevented. Hal, you're the man.

Hey Trent, my friend and I got the chance to meet you the morning you were leaving. It was nice to meet you, we didn't want to bother you too much because we new you were tired and mentally you were focused on flying out of Oshkosh. But I appreciate the videos you put out, they are really entertaining and fun to watch with my aviation friends. Hope your travels were safe. Thanks.

I am a 70-year-old widow, with obviously nothing better to do. I started watching you guys two days ago and I believe I’m on a marathon. I’m hooked! Now if I can only get my five boys interested. 2 of them are already laughing at me. I can hardly wait to see what the other 3 say. So far I’m really impressed with you guys have a great time‼️‼️‼️ My prayers are with Nick🙏🙏🙏

Watertown is a great place to overnight. I stay there at least 3 to 4 times a year when I head south for the Surgis Bike Rally, or when I do my annual trip to Arizona, packing my cameras and telescope gear, for my yearly astronomy trip. Lots of great places to stay, and best of all, the IHop is central to all of them for breakfast. Glad to see Hailstorm is warming to being in a "sketch" little plane. Cheers from Winnipeg.

Awesome that you came through New Richmond, WI...so close to my hometown! So proud of how you all greet challenges you face flying back and forth to and from EAA AV. Stopped by your STOL corral a few times. Was able to meet Hal, but missed you two. Next time!

I stopped in New Richmond last year on my way back from Chicago in a Warrior! It was my first big trip as a Private Pilot and it was SO beautiful. Glad y'all got through all this safely!

Hi Trent, I just recently came across you vlog channel and wanted to express my appreciation for you wonderful photography, content and narration. My father flew for the Airmail service one hundred years ago, his route was from Salt Lake to Cheyenne Wyoming and back and flew the Curtiss Jenny JN-4D. Your flight which followed the same route he flew was so interesting to me because he flew low and slow like you did…thank your wife for me. The view of the same country he traversed for almost three years was especially intriguing to me. Thanks again, brad Hungerford

Hal, Steve and Jason all kill me in a STOL contest! They all have really great performing airplanes, and its nice cruising with them because I barely burn any fuel cruising as slow as they do 😜 but its all a compromise, just pick how far you want to take it on any front and you'll pay for it somewhere else.

Yes that area around Watertown is pretty. East of Watertown the terrain breaks downward to the bed of an ancient lake called Lake Agassi. It was really an inland sea. That's why it is so flat for miles east, before you climb up hills several hundred feet to get to Watertown. They had a seriously wet spring there. A lot of fields never got planted this year.

Lol I grew up only 2 blocks from the Wisconsin Rapids airport and still fly from the west coast to there to visit family. Lots of fun aviation around Wisconsin outside of Osh!

Wisco native here - Thanks for showcasing the beauty of our state! I know you guys had a brief interaction with the environment here, but I would absolutely love it if you would do a shoot of northern WI or even the UP. Beautiful country - not mountainous like your home, but green, and rolling, with lakes as far as the eye can see, something you don't see much west of the Mississippi. Godspeed, and safe travels home!

Love your videos. I don't fly low & slow. Here in Texas it's usually hot. The higher I go the cooler it is, and fuel burn goes down. I consider altitude my air conditioner. In a Cub or similar, on a cool/cold day, low & slow is great, but not on a long trip.

On the way back to San Antonio SSF, I loss my alternator. Your guy lost his engine, another plane losses it coolant, and then a wire. My wife and I had wondered how many planes had problems on the way back. My problem turned out to be the bracket holding the alternator (BE-33). The week; total fun! It was so cool for this first-timer. Blue Skies.
